Chapter 3
The oldest one looked to the young.
She watched him.
He was going to choose the one to join him.
She wanted to be chosen.
She didn't want to be chosen.
These thoughts battled in her head.
The old one began to look at the young.
He was about to choose who joins him in the cave.
She wanted to be chosen.
That thought won.
Yet she still didn’t.
She didn't want to make that great sacrifice.
The old one began to look at the young closely.
He got to her.
His furs brushed against hers.
She looked him in the eye.
He went to the next young one.
She watched him look at the others.
She watched him look at them all.
She watched him come towards her.
Maybe it would be her.
She watched him grab her forearm.
He led her to The Cave of Scales.
**
He wakes up to the song of sparrows.
His window is open.
He can hear the songs of the earth.
The majestic songs of the earth.
He gets up from his soft bed.
Hesitantly he closes the window.
He goes down the steps.
He goes to the place of food.
What do the people call it?
The kitchen.
He finds a place to sit.
He sits and waits.
What does he wait for?
He waits for her.
He waits for the woman.
She is coming.
She is coming today.
He waits.
And waits.
She watched him.
He was going to choose the one to join him.
She wanted to be chosen.
