Transfiguration lesson 1

Chapter 5

Summary : The theories and facts behind how transfiguration actually works

Transfiguration changes molecular structure, not just the appearance of the object

There are four branches of transfiguration -

. transformation

. vanishment

. conjuration

. untransfiguration

Transfiguration formula : t = wc/va * z

<table style="border-collapse: collapse; width: 67.0455%; height: 242px;" border="1"><colgroup><col style="width: 25.3504%;"><col style="width: 74.6084%;"></colgroup> <tbody> <tr> <td>Variable:</td> <td>Meaning: </td> </tr> <tr> <td>t</td> <td>intended transfiguration difficulty </td> </tr> <tr> <td>w</td> <td>wand power</td> </tr> <tr> <td>c</td> <td>concentration</td> </tr> <tr> <td>v</td> <td>viciousness</td> </tr> <tr> <td>a</td> <td>mass of begining object</td> </tr> <tr> <td>z</td> <td>unknown variable</td> </tr> </tbody> </table>

Wand power is influenced by the wood, core, length, flexibility and by the realtionship between the wand and witch/wizard

viciousness essentially means the amount of energy that the target object has. The only way for something to have no viciousness is that the atomic movement is stopped - however this is impossible to achieve, even with magic.

This formula was made for people to try to understand how transfiguration worked but no one really knows.

There are many theories of what variable z is :

. the complexity of life within an object

. the molecular makeup of the object

. someones natural ability for the spell

. some people believe that z is made up of multiple factors

Once you have all the varibales you can find out roughly what t is ; the greater the value of t, the easier the spell.
