Chapter 29

As we near the end of this issue, it’s time to wind down. Welcome to one of my favorite chapters - and hopefully yours too! - the Quotes Page! Today, I’ll be sharing three Harry Potter quotes, along with two others from authors I’ve grown to love. Without further ado, let's begin!

Quote 1: “Of course, it is happening inside your head, Harry, but why on earth should that mean it is not real?” - Albus Dumbledore [The Deathly Hallows]

Coincidentally, all of the Harry Potter quotes I’ve chosen for today are from Albus Dumbledore. Indeed, he isn’t exactly my favorite character, but I can't deny that he has a way with words. This quote specifically has quickly grown to become one of my favorites. It’s such an impactful moment in the books and movies that I'm sure it made many emotional.

I can relate it to nostalgia and dreams. At some point, memories turn into fuzzy blurs and distant pasts, things we can only relive through our minds. However, just because they only exist in our minds doesn’t make them any less real or meaningful. The realities we create within ourselves are every bit as impactful as the ones around us, so don’t be afraid to imagine, create, and dream. It’s what brings life meaning.

Quote 2: “A child's voice, however honest and true, is meaningless to those who've forgotten how to listen.” - Albus Dumbledore [The Prisoner of Azkaban]

When I stumbled upon this quote while searching for ones to include, it hit me like a ton of bricks. Children are filled with creativity and unique perspectives, but their age makes people overlook them. Their thoughts and opinions are frequently undervalued or ignored.

Coming from a very traditional family, I know how hard it can be to speak up and feel heard. It’s frustrating and hurtful to see how growing older makes people so set in their ways and unwilling to change when really, we should be embracing it instead.

Quote 3: “ ‘There is no shame in what you are feeling, Harry,’ said Dumbledore's voice. ‘On the contrary... the fact that you can feel pain like this is your greatest strength.’ ” - Albus Dumbledore [Order of the Phoenix]

There’s been a lot of debate about whether these words were the right thing for Dumbledore to say. If you don’t recall, this quote comes from the moment after Sirius dies, when Harry is overwhelmed with guilt and anger.

At the time, I imagine hearing this only made Harry feel more frustrated. But looking back, this quote only goes to show how pain is a part of life which displays our humanity. To feel and to hurt is a big part of life. Who would we be without it?

Quote 4: “To live is the rarest thing in the world. Most people exist, that is all.” - Oscar Wilde.

I do love this quote. It makes you reflect on life and question whether you live or merely exist. To live means to have a life filled with passion and purpose, and existing is just an endless cycle—no hope, imagination, or creativity to be found. Honestly, to be someone who exists, but doesn’t truly live, is one of my greatest fears.

Quote 5: “For someone who loved words as much as I did, it was amazing how often they failed me.” - M.L Rio [If We Were Villains]

This is easily one of my favorites, and I don’t think it needs much explanation. Despite my love for words, there are moments when they fall short and make me unable to express the depth of what I feel. The honesty of this quote is what makes it so powerful, and it’s why I connect with it so deeply.

Sadly, that’s where we’ll leave it for today. Thank you for reading through these quotes with me. If you have any favorites, I’d love to hear about them! For now, though, we’re almost at the end of the issue, so I’ll let you move on to the next chapter. Bye!
