Dark Potions [ Selections from "Moste Potente Potions" & from historical resources ]
Chapter 8
"Potion to create Extra eyes"
2 fresh eyeballs from a willing victim
1 ravens feather
2 teaspoons of Darkest darkness powder
6 cups of foggy tea
2 pinches of lacewing flies
Mix all ingredients in a pewter cauldron over a high flame. Brew for 2o minutes and strain. Pour into glass vial and stopper until needed. Will keep on shelf when sealed properly for up to 2 years.
The sky is the limit with how you choose to use these extra eyes. You can use them for security purposes, dark arts, espionage, etc. Just be sure to keep a close watch on your own set in case they decide to jump sides.
"Regeneration Potion"
Now that you're reading this book, you might go on a conquest for glory, for power beyond measure, for power using which, you can easily capture the world. However, things might go wrong sometimes. Because, dealing with dark arts is not a child's play. The consequences of any thing done wrongly can be disastrous.
Here, we will henceforth talk about the regeneration potion.
If, for any reason, your body is destroyed while your soul remains, this potion will help you to regenerate yourself or in simple words, to create a new body.
But, this process is not as easy as it seems. The soul is not capable of doing much. Your soul cannot make a regeneration potion. For brewing such a potion, you need a servant. Though, very very few people will actually be willing to be the servant.
To brew the regeneration potion, you just need 3 things.
THE BONE OF THE FATHER, THE FLESH OF THE SERVANT AND THE BLOOD OF THE ENEMY.
This potion must be brewed at night.
The bones of the father: If the father of the person who wants to regenerate is dead, the brewing has to be performed in the graveyard where the father has been buried. Keep the cauldron near the father's tomb and extract the bones. If the father is alive, a bone can be taken easily.
The flesh of the servant: This is the reason why very few people will agree to be the servant. The servant has to sacrifice his flesh and drop it into the cauldron.
The blood of the enemy: A sworn enemy of the person who wants to regenerate must give some blood. Since the enemy will not give it by will, some blood will have to be taken forcibly.
The Regeneration potion is not an easy potion. It is a very very advanced potion. At the night decided, take a cauldron big enough for a person and add some water mixed with a teaspoonful of unicorn blood. Then, light the cauldron. You will then observe that the liquid in the cauldron will heat very fast. It will bubble and send out fiery sparks. A thick steam will be produced. Lower the soul into the cauldron and on doing so, there will be a hissing sound. Thereafter, loudly say 'BONE OF THE FATHER: UNKNOWINGLY/KNOWINGLY GIVEN, YOU WILL RENEW YOUR SON'. Then immerse the bones of the father. The potion will turn a vivid, poisonous looking blue. Thereafter, loudly say 'FLESH OF THE SERVANT, WILLINGLY GIVEN. YOU WILL REVIVE YOUR MASTER'. The flesh of the servant must be given willingly. Then, the servant must cut a piece of his/her flesh and drop it into the cauldron. By doing this, the solution will turn a shade of burning red. Then, in the end, loudly say, BLOOD OF THE ENEMY, FORCIBLY TAKEN. YOU WILL RESURRECT YOUR FOE'. Then, with a knife, penetrate a part of the enemy, collect the seeping blood in a glass phial and pour it into the cauldron. The potion will turn white. The cauldron will then send diamond sparks in all directions. A surge of white steam will billow from it. The potion is complete. A body will henceforth be generated for the soul inside the cauldron.
"Psychologically Dangerous Potions"
Psychologically Dangerous Potions are potions that affect the human mind and emotions. These include Love Potions, Confusing, Calming and Befuddlement Draughts, and many more. However, the effect of most of these type of potions is not permanent and it will wear off over time, so if you want to maintain the effect you will have to re-take the potion in a while, or give it whoever the potion is meant for.
"Amortentia"
Amortentia is the strongest love potion. However it's more advanced than most and not very easy to prepare. And as with the rest of the love potions the longevity and the strength of the effect depends on the amount of potion you use, the weight of the drinker, and the attractiveness of the giver. It basically creates a powerful obsession for the drinker towards the giver of the potion.
It can be recognized by the spiraling steam that rises from it, and its mother-of-pearl sheen.
Difficulty: 8
Brew Time: 3 days
Ingredients:
Ashwinder Eggs: Left as they are.
RARITY: Uncommon. Can be found at good ingredient shops.
Beetle Eyes: Boiled. Five minutes on medium heat should do the trick.
RARITY: Very Common. Can be obtained from any ingredient shop.
Fluxweed: Sliced. Needs to be fresh.
RARITY: Uncommon. Can be obtained from good ingredient shops.
Glumbumble Treacle: Left as it is.
RARITY: Uncommon. Can be found at better ingredient shops.
Graphorn Horn: Powdered.
RARITY: Rare. Can be obtained from very good ingredient shops, though it's expensive.
Runespoor Eggs: Left as they are.
Rarity: Uncommon. Can be obtained from better ingredient shops.
Method:
1. Put the Glumbumble Treacle in your main cauldron and let it heat up for about five hours. Meanwhile, put the Ashwinder eggs and the Runespoor eggs in a separate cauldron and leave them for a while on a high heat.
2. Once both types of eggs become a dark red in color and the Ashwinder eggs get a shining look, you are ready to add the boiled beetle eyes. Afterward stir the cauldron for at least one hour, and make sure the eggs get smashed and that all the ingredients mix together. You will know you are done with them once they turn into a purple liquid with small traces of the eyes and the egg's bark. Then let it brew for a while.
3. After the five hours have passed, you can add the contents of your separate cauldron to your main cauldron. Stir the potion for an hour or two till it gets a dark blue color. Then leave it to brew for 2 days.
4. After 2 days, you can add the final ingredient, the sliced fluxweed. Stir for 15 minutes, and then take cauldron off fire. You will have to let the potion cool down, and then put it into tea or coffee before serving it to the drinker.
EXTRA NOTE: The Fluxweed has to be fresh, and it can only be picked at full moon, so you have to carefully plan the brewing process ahead!
"Psychologically Dangerous Potions II"
Many Potions and Draughts have similar effects. However, we won't spend extra time looking at all of them, but only the better ones. Therefore, as both the Confusing Concoction and the Confusing and Befuddlement Draught have the same effect of confusing the drinker and causing forgetfulness and headache, we will only cover the stronger one (the Draught). You have to remember that the effect of these kinds of potions and draughts isn't permanent and will wear off after a while! For a faster recovery you can use the Rennervate Charm.
"Confusing and Befuddlement Draught"
This seems like a rather easy concoction if you see that it's made out of only 3 ingredients and doesn't take a long time, but in fact it's rather hard. You must make sure that all ingredients are perfectly powdered and that you brew it the correct amount of time, otherwise it might have side effects that could even stay permanent.
Difficulty: 7
Brew Time: Less than 2 hours
Ingredients:
Lovage: Powdered.
RARITY: Common. Can be obtained from most ingredient shops.
Scurvy-grass: Powdered.
RARITY: Common. Can be obtained from most ingredient shops.
Sneezewort: Powdered. Only the leaves are used.
RARITY: Common. Can be obtained from most ingredient shops.
Method:
1. Make sure you have a cup of powder from all three ingredients, and that they are fully powdered. The Lovage should have a light red color, the Scurvy-grass should have a dark blue color, and the Sneezewort should have a yellow color.
2. In your main cauldron add the powdered Scurvy-grass and leave it on medium heat until it turns into a deep dark red color and produces black smoke. Then add the powdered Sneezewort and stir the concoction.
3. Once the ingredients in the cauldron turn a dark green color, add water to the cauldron. Stir for about 15 minutes, and then leave it to brew for another 15 minutes.
4. Now add the final ingredient, the powdered Lovage, and stir for about 5 minutes, and then put out the fire and leave the concoction, which should now be a thick liquid with a dark maroon color, to chill out. Your Confusing and Befuddlement Draught is now ready.
"Psychologically Dangerous Potions III"
Besides Love Potions and Confusing and Befuddlement Draughts, the most commonly used concoctions are Truth Potions or Serums. These type of potions make the drinker able to only speak the truth, so he would give the true answer to every question asked. Therefore, the Truth Serums are commonly used after murders or other kinds of crime, as people want to find out what really happened.
The strongest of all Truth Serums is Veritaserum and that's what we will learn to do in this chapter.
"Veritaserum"
It is said that this potion is so powerful that three drops of it is enough for you to speak out your innermost secrets. Because of that, the use of Veritaserum is strictly controlled by the Ministry of Magic. However, as usual, people tend to ignore that and use it whenever they want.
Another good side of the potion---beside its powerful effect---is that it is colourless and odourless, which makes it impossible to detect. You could mix it with any kind of drink, like milk, coffee, tea, pumpkin juice, or anything else really, and no one would ever know that the drink contains Veritaserum.
But this potion has two downsides. One is that antidotes exist, and any skilled wizard or witch would have one at the ready, to use it if they suspect something. The other downside is that it takes a full moon cycle for the potion to mature, thus you can't make the potion in less than a month.
Difficulty: 9
Brew Time: A month (a full moon cycle)
Ingredients:
Black Beetle Eyes: Boiled.
RARITY: Very Common. Can be found in any ingredient shop.
Erumpent Fluid: Left as it is.
RARITY: Rare. Can be obtained only from better ingredient shops.
Jobberknoll Feathers: Left as they are. Several feathers will do the trick.
RARITY: Uncommon. Can be obtained from good ingredient shops or from Jobberknoll birds.
Newts: Boiled. 4-5 to be used at the maximum.
RARITY: Common. Can be obtained from most ingredient shops.
Method:
1. Before you start with the preparation of the potion, double check that your cauldron is perfectly clean---even dust could mess up the effect of the potion. Once you double check, add the Erumpent Fluid in your cauldron and put the cauldron on high heat. Leave it for about 20 minutes.
2. Next, add the Newts and stirr for a while. Then add the Beetle Eyes as well, and keep stirring for some 10 minutes.
3. After the potion attains a dark red color, start adding the Jobberknoll Feathers while you keep stirring. When finished, the potion should have a dark blue color. Turn off the heat.
4. You are to leave the potion on an open place for a full moon cycle (about a month). Basically, the Veritaserum should then look like water---colourless and odourless.
When using it, keep in mind that it's a very powerful potion so you should only use it in small doses.
"Physically Dangerous Potions I"
Physically dangerous potions are potions that hurt the being's physical structure, so they basically lead to transformations or deformations on a body. There are, however, potions that affect both one's physical and psychical state, and the potion in this chapter is of that kind.
"Garrotting Gas"
Garrotting Gas is an invisible gas that has the effect of knocking people and other beings out. It's not deadly, and therefore not so dangerous, yet if used wisely it can be of great help.
It requires a lot of attention, concentration, and skill when making it, otherwise the maker of the potion could get themselves knocked out.
Difficulty: 8
Brew Time: 4 hours
Ingredients:
Ashpodel: Chopped.
RARITY: Very Common. Can be found in any ingredient shop.
Billyweed Stings: Extract the slime from them.
RARITY: Common. Can be obtained from better ingredient shops.
Dittany: Shredded.
RARITY: Rare. Can be obtained from very good ingredient shops or can be found on the Island of Crete and Greece.
Horklump Juice: Left as it is.
RARITY: Common. Can be obtained from most ingredient shops.
Lacewing Flies: Boiled.
RARITY: Very Common. Can be obtained from any ingredient shop.
Octopus Powder: Left as it is.
RARITY: Rare. Can be obtained from very good ingredient shops.
Wormwood Essence: Left as it is.
RARITY: Uncommon. Can be obtained from better ingredient shops, or can be extracted from Wormwood.
Method:
1. Get two smaller cauldrons and put half of the Horklump Juice in both of them. In the first one add the chopped Asphodel and stir. In the second add the shredded Dittany and stir as well. Once done the first potion will have a silver color, and the second a mixture will be between blue and green. Leave them open at least half an hour.
2. After half an hour you're ready to add both concoctions into your main cauldron and set it to high heat. Also add the Wormwood Essence and stir for a while, until all the ingredients combine.
3. In another cauldron put the extracted Billyweed Slime from the Billyweed Stings and put the Lacewing Flies in there as well. Mix them nicely and leave them like that. Then get back to the main cauldron and add Octopus Powder to it but keep in mind that Octopus Powder is vital for the strength of the potion so be careful with the amount of it you use. The potion should now have a light purple color.
4. If that's the color your potion has, you're ready to add the Wormwood Essence and the Billyweed Slime from the other cauldron to your main cauldron. With this you have basically finished the potion. Just stir it a few times and put it into bottles, vials, or any other type of containers you want. Just remember to do it quickly and while it's still hot because once it cools down the potion spreads and acts like a gas. Also remember to label the container; the potion itself is invisible.
"Physically Harmful Potions II"
"Draught of Living Death"
The Draught of Living Death is harmful because it sends the drinker into a deep and potentially endless sleep. However, If the correct antidote is administered the drinker will awake. Although this potion has few ingredients it is extremely finicky and can go horribly wrong.
Difficulty: 7
Brew time: 1 week, 1 day
Ingredients:
3 aconite leaves, dried
RARITY: Fairly common. May be found at most ingredient stores.
Belladonna fluid, 3 drops
RARITY: Can be found at most shops. Usually not at stores meant exclusively for students.
Salamander blood, 5-10 drops, depending on desires potency.
RARITY: Common; found at most stores with the exception of a few.
1 moonstone in its natural state.
RARITY: Rare, can be purchased at good stores or found wild under the light of a crescent moon.
Method:
1. In a standard cauldron crush aconite and toast it over low heat for 4 minutes.
2. Pour in Belladonna while stirring clockwise. Many a wizard has mistakenly stirred counter-clockwise, which renders the potion useless. The potion should be, at this point, pale yellow.
3. Simmer for 6 days, stirring every other hour.
4. Your potion now will be a rich navy. Add salamander blood one drop at a time until the potion is pale blue.
5. Drop in moonstone and leave it in for precisely 10 hours. If it stays in to long the potion will become lethal. Your potion should thicken steadily throughout the 10 hours.
6. The potion can now be drunk and the effect will be immediate. It will spoil within 3 days.
This potion is used most by healers to anesthetize patients who require surgery. It has a long history, being used illegally in roman times. It was believed that the potion would send you temporarily to a life after death, thus it was given the name “Draught of Living Death”.
"Physically Harmful Potions III"
"Felix Felicis"
Felix Felicis, commonly know as Liquid Luck, is considered a physically harmful potion because it alters the chemical makeup of the brain. Although Felix Felicis does, in fact, make the user lucky, it is a highly addictive substance that can cause giddiness, recklessness, and dangerous overconfidence with excessive use. When imbibed in large quantities, Felicis turns highly toxic. Additionally, the usage of the substance is banned in all organized sporting events. Felicis is a dangerous potion to make as it can go horribly wrong in the brewing process; one slight of hand can cause the potion to turn into a deadly poison, or worse. It is advised that only experienced and licensed Potions Masters and Mistresses attempt this potion, any and all lawsuits involving brewing-gone-wrong will be disregarded.
Difficulty: 10+++
Anhydrous ammonia
RARITY: Common. Can be obtained from both the Magical and Muggle world.
Lemon Juice, concentrated
RARITY: Common. Can be obtained from both the Magical and Muggle world.
Essence of Belladonna, purified
RARITY: Can be found in most high end apothecaries.
Ashwinder Eggshells, whole
RARITY: Uncommon. Can be found at good ingredient shops. NOTICE: The eggshells must be completely whole!
Acromantula Venom, undiluted
RARITY: Extremely rare. Almost impossible to obtain firsthand and devilishly expensive when found in shops.
Salamander eggs, left as is
RARITY: Can be found in most apothecaries.
Amaranth petals, ground
RARITY: Common. Can be found in all apothecaries.
The tip of the horn of a 3 month old unicorn, willingly given
RARITY: Extremely rare. Obtaining this ingredient from other sources is usually highly unreliable. The best way to ensure that it is willingly given is to obtain it yourself.
Blood of a 7 month old unicorn, willingly given
RARITY: Extremely rare. Once again, this ingredient must be obtained firsthand. NOTICE: If the unicorn is killed in the obtaining of the blood, both you and the blood will be tainted.
Materials:
Part of what makes brewing Felix Felicis is the requirement of specific tools and materials in the brewing process. If these tools are not properly sanitized before usage, the potion will become irreversibly contaminated, highly unstable, and more-thank-likely combustible.
1 standard sized pewter cauldron with temperature containment charms cast by the brewer
1 glass stirring rod
1 extra-large bronze cauldron
1 onyx mortar and pestle set
3 solid silver stirring rods
Fabric made of unicorn hair
1 gold stirring rod
1 size 7 golden ladle
1 small solid gold cauldron
Additional Skills Necessary:
The brewer must be able to:
Cast a containment charm.
Cast a temperature containment charm.
Cast a pH detection charm.
Remain awake, cognizant, and brew for 25 days without break.
Physically lift a full extra-large bronze cauldron
Method:
1. Cast a containment charm and a temperature control charm around the lab environment. Then, in the pewter cauldron, add the anhydrous ammonia and bring to a boil.
2. Still the ammonia 7 times clockwise and 13 times counterclockwise with the glass stirring rod until the potion turns a violent orange.
3. Mix the concentrated lemon juice into the ammonia with the glass stirring rod, stirring counterclockwise. Continually cast the pH detection spell. Stop adding lemon juice when the pH of the substance in the cauldron is 7.733. Leave to simmer for three days.
4. Pre-heat the extra-large bronze cauldron to 734 degrees Celsius.
5. Combine the essence of belladonna, the Ashwinder eggshells, and the Acromantula venom and grind using the mortar and pestle. Add to bronze cauldron.
6. Add the salamander eggs to the mixture. It should turn a dully glowing red.
7. Simmer for three days.
8. On the third day, add amaranth petals to both cauldrons until both mixtures are matching shades of vibrant green.
9. Simultaneous stir both cauldrons with one solid silver stirring rod each for precisely 25 days. Stir the bronze cauldron 7 time clockwise and 2 times counterclockwise. Stir the pewter cauldron 4 times counterclockwise and 8 times clockwise. Stirs must be perfectly in synch. Any hesitation will cause contamination. It is very important that you do not take a break for any reason. One mistake at this stage will cause both parts of the potion to combust.
10. Let both potions simmer for one day.
11. Stretch the unicorn hair fabric over the mouth of the pewter cauldron and secure tightly. Physically lift the bronze cauldron and pour the contents onto the fabric. You must physically lift the cauldron. Using a wand around the cauldrons at this stage in the brewing process could be fatal.
12. Let the material filter through the fabric for one day. When a day has passed remove the fabric and discard the excess in a safe manner.
13. Pre-heat the solid gold cauldron to 100 degrees Celsius.
14. With the gold stirring rod, stir the mixture in the pewter cauldron alternating clockwise and counterclockwise stirs until it is a blinding white.
15. Using the gold ladle, ladle precisely three full ladles into the golden cauldron.
16. Using the last untainted silver stirring rod, stir the potion until it is clear. Add the unicorn blood.
17. Stir the potion with the same silver stirring rod until it is the color of liquid gold. Add the unicorn horn tip. DO NOT STIR THE POTION AFTER ADDING THE HORN TIP.
18. Let the potion stew for six months until it also has the consistency of liquid gold. The completed potion should have the color and consistency of liquid gold and droplets should merrily jump out of the cauldron. If the potion does not behave precisely the way it should, cast a containment charm and destroy it immediately. If you do not, your life may be in grave danger.
"Physically Harmful Potions IV"
This potion, while not strictly harmful, is included because of its potential to become so. There is a risk when it comes to anything that alters the user's body and this potion is no different. It is to be approached carefully at all times.
"Girding Potion"
Girding Potion is, at its root, a fairly basic potion to brew. It is used to give the drinker extra endurance for a considerable amount of weeks, the exact number depending on the skill of the brewer. But beware to only drink two vials of this potentially-dangerous potion.
Difficulty: 4
Brew time: 2 hours
Ingredients:
Dragonfly thoraxes: Toasted.
RARITY: Fairly common. Can be found at most ingredient stores.
Fairy wings: One pair, left as is.
RARITY: Rare. Can be purchased at the best ingredient stores or by tracking down a fairy.
Flying seahorses: Three, left as is.
RARITY: Common. Can be found at ingredient stores or at most lakes in Scotland.
Doxy eggs: Four measures, left as is.
RARITY: Very common. Can be found at any ingredient store
Method:
1. Add one set of fairy wings.
2. Heat until the potion turns turquoise.
3. Add one measure of doxy eggs.
4. Heat until the potion turns pink.
5. Add the toasted dragonfly thoraxes until the potion turns red.
6. Heat until the potion turns blue.
7. Add toasted dragonfly thoraxes until the potion turns silver.
8. Heat the potion until it turns red.
9. Add three measures of doxy eggs.
10. Add some dragonfly thoraxes.
11. Heat the potion until it turns blue.
12. Add three flying seahorses.
13. Heat until the potion turns green.
Chapter 13 for "Moste Potente Potions"
(by Kim Alting)
Antidotes and Cures I
Antidote to Common Poisons
Difficulty: 3
Brew time: 40 minutes
It will not take too long to brew this potion, because you will need to act rather quick in order to save someone from poisonous bites or stings. The Antidote to Common Potions is a potion which will counteract with poisons from most creature bites or stings.
Ingredients:
As most of us know, a bezoar is taken from a goat’s stomach and it will prevent us from most common poisons (not for Basilisk venom). Bezoars are undigested clumps that accumulate inside the digestive system of a goat (it is similar to a cat’s hairballs).
The horn of a unicorn will most likely only be taken when they have already died, because it is a monstrous thing to do. It is also possible to only take a part of the horn from a living Unicorn or that it can be taken while they are alive, because they will grow a new one. The horn of a Unicorn has purification properties, which can be used to dissolve poisons.
Mistletoe berries are white, small, waxy ingredients. The non-berry part of the mistletoe plant is very poisonous. It can cause diarrhea, stomach pain and a low pulse. Contrary, the berries are non-toxic in small amounts, but will upset your stomach when eaten in large amounts. So be careful with this ingredient.
Stewed Mandrake can be obtained by crushing the Mandrake’s roots and put it into a stewy paste. Mandrake is a powerful and special plant and it forms an essential part of most antidotes.
You will also need some dried nettles and dittany, honey water, mint sprigs and essence of lavender.
Method:
1. Put the honey water in a cauldron and heat until it boils.
2. Crush 1 bezoar into a very fine powder in a mortar, using a pestle.
3. Add 4 measures of this fine powder to your cauldron.
4. Mix the dried nettles, mint sprigs and dittany by crushing it in a mortar
5. Add 2 measures of this mix into your cauldron.
6. Heat on medium temperature until the dried nettles and dittany powder cannot be seen anymore (keep stirring while waiting).
7. Add 1 pinch of the Unicorn horn to your cauldron.
8. Stir until it has dissolved.
9. Add 2 Mistletoe berries to your mixture.
10. Again stir until it has dissolved.
11. Let it brew until it has become a thick, blue-colored mixture (after about 15 minutes).
12. Add 2 drops essence of lavender to get rid of the nasty smell.
Antidote to uncommon poisons
Difficulty : 3
Brew time : 15 minutes
This antidote cures minor poisons which are uncommon, Doxy bites for example. It might be handy to collect the ingredients and mix them together shortly before Christmas, as Doxies like to hang around during this time of year. If bitten by this “Biting Fairy”, you should take the antidote immediately.
Ingredients :
In order to collect the first ingredient, make sure to watch your hands!
Fire seeds can be collected off of the Fire Seed bush. As you can tell by its name, the seeds are hot and need to be cooled down before collecting (hint: use the Freezing Spell for a quick cooling down).
Graphorn horns need to be taken from the Graphorn, which is a purple-greyish large beast with a very tough skin. The golden horns are highly prized ingredients, because they are difficult to procure. I recommend not to go hunting for the horns, but to buy them in your local potion ingredients shop.
As most of us learned at school, the sting of the Billywig has the ability to make you float off the ground. The Billywig stingers are used in the Wideye Potions, but we need it as well for this antidote. Do not try and collect the stingers by letting a bunch of Billywigs fly around and make them sting you, because you will float uncontrollably for days and sometimes (if you suffer from an allergic reaction) you will permanently float.
Chizpurfle carapaces is the last ingredient that needs to be collected for this antidote. The carapaces can be collected by using Lumos Duo on the Chizpurfle to lure them towards a Venomous Tentacula plant. After the plant has consumed the Chizpurfle, it will spit out the carapace. Of course, you can buy them too.
Method :
1. Place 4 cooled Fire Seeds in your cauldron.
2. Powder the Graphorn horn in a mortar, using a pestle and put
them in your cauldron.
3. Use the slime of 5 Billywig stingers for this antidote, pour the
slime in your cauldron as well.
4. Put 10 Chizpurfle carapaces in the cauldron.
5. Heat the mixture for 10 minutes on low temperature (otherwise
the drinker of the antidote will burn his mouth) and stir vigorously.
More darker potions includes the followings....
"Rudimentary Body Potion"
The rudimentary body potion creates a strange, small body which can house a soul (such as one previously contained in a horcrux) until a more permanent and appropriate body is found or created. Though we are unsure of all of the ingredients used in it, we know that the one created by Lord Voldemort's servant, Peter Pettigrew, contained snake venom from Nagini and unicorn blood. The drinker must have some of the potion every few hours in order to maintain the fragile form.
"Rebirth Potion"
This potion can be used on a rudimentary body to restore it to the soul's original body's form. It can also be used to restore a body that has been gravely maimed and disfigured to its true, whole form. It is a very old dark potion which requires a rather large cauldron (enough for a grown person to sit in) and three ingredients[ Bone of the father, unknowingly given.... Flesh of the servant, willingly sacrificed.... and Blood of the enemy ].....
and then there is "The Drink of Despair"
This potion was placed in a basin and used to protect one of Lord Voldemort's horcruxes. Again, the exact details of its creation are unknown, but the effects of the potion are. The potion caused the drinker to see terrible things (hallucinations, relive past painful memories, etc.) and overall made the drinker feel hopeless, depressed, and distraught - similar to an encounter with a Dementor. Finally, it caused a feeling of dehydration and a horrible burning sensation on the inside. Lord Voldemort cleverly paired this potion with a basin that would refill with the potion unless it was drank, and a goblet which could not be filled (magically or physically) with water, forcing someone to drink the entire basin full of potion, and likely motivating them to attempt to drink from the lake which surrounded the basin - which would awaken the Inferi sleeping within it.
Difficulty: 10+++
