Lesson Five: Magical Beings & the Moon Study Guide

Chapter 6

Werewolves & Centaurs

Werewolves transform each month on a Full Moon, & as a result, they have no human thoughts on whether the human standing next to them is a friend or foe. Wolfsbane Potion aids in this to keep their human mind intact while in wolf form. Being near a human with Lycanthropy will not transfer the illness to you, as it must come into contact with human blood to get infected directly. Lycanthropy researchers & political werewolf activism are both Astronomy related career paths. Centaurs are connected to the universe’s magic, which is how they are able to see into the future for predictions. The centaurs knew how to calculate & use the A.M.E. before the wizarding community did. They are sensitive to the Moon’s magical properties, which lets them know of any Earthly events that could happen in the near future.

Giants & Goblins

Giants cannot control magic, but can have magical resistance to magic. Taking down just one would need an entire team of wizards to utilize a simple spell. During a New Moon, their magical resistance is reduced. Goblins are not very friendly to humans due to disagreements on past issues. They like to close goblin-run businesses during a New Moon, though today them seem to do this less often. As they blacksmith & silversmith objects, goblins use moonstones into their work. Within these items, the Moon’s magic is absorbed, making each piece of excellent quality.
