Lesson Four: Magical Beasts & the Moon Study Guide
Chapter 5
Mooncalves
Mooncalves like to hide in burrows most of the time due to Moon phases. During Full Moons, they do a dance ritual outside of their hiding places. As they dance, their pattern must complete another’s in order to find mates. To harvest Mooncalf Dung, you must harvest it during a Full Moon. Stealing this dung from another is a crime. While in their burrows, Mooncalves produce a month’s worth of dung. They will be very scared if you were to enter their burrows while they reside in it, so avoid doing so. Detailed tracks are left behind within the grass to indicate they have been there recently. The dung’s silver appearance is what makes the dung powerful, as Mooncalves require magic from the Full Moon to metabolize their food. They are rated XX & are harmless creatures. Avoid harvesting Mooncalf Dung during a lunar eclipse.
A Lunar Menagerie
During the waning phases of the Moon, many creatures who depend on lunar magic feel a weakened source of magic. If Diricawl feathers or Demiguise hair is harvested during a New Moon, they will be slightly less powerful. Corals change colors based off of the Moon’s phases. The Enret fish changes their gender so as to have even numbers of each gender.
