Truth 4 - The mostly uneventful next couple of years
Chapter 8
After the school holidays, I began my second year at Hogwarts. Nothing much happened throughout this year except for a new girl in Slytherin that Lucius had fallen head over heels in love with. Her name was Narcissa Black, her elder sister Bellatrix was in the same year level as Molly. I had met Bellatrix the year prior, briefly, yet she seemed happy to help me in anyway that I may need; all I had to do was ask.
Narcissa had long, straight black hair; her features were beautiful yet modest. She became my friend on the second day of her being at Hogwarts. Lucius, Narcissa, myself and our other friends would hang out together any chance we could manage.
During my second year, I gave up on trying to impress my family; every holiday or school break would be spent at the Malfoy’s. I became close to Lucius’ mother and she taught me how to cook, make gift cards and how to knit. I would take wool back to Hogwarts with me and at the request of other Slytherins, I would knit them jumpers, scarves, beanies and vests. I even knitted a bed for Lucisa; who had fallen in love with Narcissa as well.
Unfortunately, Gryffindor won the Quidditch Grand Final and house cup that year. However no Slytherin let it get the better of them.
In my third year we were able to visit the wizarding village of Hogsmeade on the weekends. When there we would go to: Honeydukes, where all the best confectionary was sold, Madam Puddifoot’s Tea Shop I went there with Scorpius Greengrass once, making everyone think we were on a date! Dominic Maestro’s where you can play and listen to some of the worlds most extraordinary musical instruments and types of music itself., Spintwitches was a shop that had a large selection of brooms for all Quidditch players and lovers. Zonko’s Joke Shop was the best joke shop that I had ever been to; I purchased so many hilarious objects there. However, the best destination at Hogsmeade was The Three Broomsticks where you could have the best butterbeer anyone could ever ask for.
The amount of money that I would spend at Hogsmeade was ridiculous. Lucius said it was lucky that my parents kept an account for me at Gringotts Wizarding Bank; otherwise I would not be able to keep spending it!
It was this year, my third year, that Slytherin won the Quidditch Grand Final again, however, Gryffindor won the house cup. I was happy that we won Quidditch, however, a tad disappointed that we did not win the house cup as well.
My fourth year at Hogwarts would have to be one of my worst. This was the year that I fell in love with Arthur Weasley; who in my first-year at Hogwarts I saved from torture at the hands of Peter Parkinson.
Arthur was tall with short, ginger hair. He had freckles covering most of his face. He was not what most girls would consider attractive, but I think that was perhaps why I loved him.
One day after Defence Against the Dark Arts had finished I decided I would go and meet Arthur outside of the Great Hall, where he would usally sit and read at that time of the day.
When I found him, as predicted, sitting down and reading one of his school textbooks, I approached him and began to talk. “Hey, Arthur, can we talk for a minute please?” He looked up form his book as soon as I began talking, “Sure, what do you want to talk about?” he replied. “Look, I understand that you are good friends with Molly, Fabian and Gideon but I have a confession to make. The truth is I really like you; I mean more than a friend.” His face began to turn red, then purple. His mouth dropped open into a gaping hole and then closed as quickly as it opened. “Dolores, I can’t. You must not have heard, but, Molly and I started dating a few weeks ago. I’m sorry.” I could not believe it, Molly and Arthur were dating? Had been for weeks and no-one told me? I just cannot handle it.
I was devastated. I ran away from him as fast as I could through the school grounds. I did not pay any attention to where I was running, and before I knew what was happening I ran head first into a tree and was knocked out.
When I woke up it was pitch black. I felt for my wand in my jacket, got it out only to find that it had been snapped in half. I attempt to navigate my way to Hagrid’s shack in hopes that eh could take me back to the castle. But I had no such luck, instead I found myself wandering into the forbidden forest. I do not know how long I was walking for and in what direction but I heard a stampeding of horse hooves coming up behind me.
When I turned around, I came face-to-face with a Centaur. I had read in one of my textbooks that a Centaur can be dangerous creatures when threatened or provoked; I hoped that I had not done one of those without realising. Before I can open my mouth to talk, its leg and hoof comes right down on top of me and knocks me down. I feel something dripping down my arm; I look and find that I have a bleeding gash. Just as the centaur was about to strike me again someone yells, “Bane, leave the young witch alone. She has done nothing to harm you; so there is no reason for you to harm her. Now leave before I take her to Dumbledore and tell him where to find you.”
The centaur that defended me trots forward. His horse body is covered with a thin layer of mustard-yellow-brown hair. “Miss Prewett, I know why you were in this forest; I know what happened with Mr Weasley. Now before you ask how I know this, I must tell you that I am very wise.” The centaur bends down, and I climb on his back.
I wake to the smell of medicine, I glace around and realise that I am in the hospital wing where there are several people talking. “Firenze, thank you for bringing Miss Prewett to me. I was alerted by Hagrid after he heard a girl’s high pitches scream coming from the Forbidden Forest. We were about to come and investigate when Professor McGonagall informed me that you had brought the girl here, to the hospital wing already.” It is Professor Dumbledore’s voice talking; and I can only presume that Firenze is the Centaur that had saved me. Before I hear anything else, I fall back to sleep.
“Dolores, Dolores! Oh, look at her! Her face is a horrible shade of green.” It is Molly’s voice that awakens me for the second time. I open my eyes and before I can feel some happiness at the fact that she is here, beside me when I am injured, my mouth opens and I hear myself yell, “MOLLY, WHAT THE DEVIL’S SNARE ARE YOU DOING HERE? DID YOU KNOW THAT THE ONLY REASON I AM IN THIS STUPID HOSPITAL WING IS BECAUSE OF YOU AND ARTHUR? NO-ONE TOLD ME YOU TWO WERE DATING, SO I PROFESSED MY LOVE FOR HIM, ONLY TO BE SHOT DOWN. I THEN GOT ATTACKED AND NOW HERE I AM. NOW I WILL ASK YOU TO LEAVE; BEFORE I SAY SOMETHING ELSE THAT I WILL LATER REGRET.” Molly runs away from me and the hospital wing crying. I look around my bed and see Lucius is sitting in the other chair next to me with Lucisa sitting on his lap meowing. “Thank the heavens you are awake. I was so worried about you. Lucisa wouldn’t shut up; all she has done is meow and snarl at anyone who would say your name in a bad way. My mother sends a letter to me saying that you will stay with us these holidays; and she will help you get better.” I was thrilled to see that one of my closest friends and my cat was there next to me whilst I was in hospital.
