Chapter 5
Our Astronomy teacher, Professor Sinistra, started to teach us about the night skies; making us look through our telescopes at the sky for half an hour. The sky was absolutely stunning. It was like gazing at a black piece of silk with diamonds and glitter scattered on top of it. The moon was shaped like a piece of gold.
After we looked at the night sky we were instructed to record our observations; then we were allowed to leave and go back to our dormitories and sleep.
The next morning when I woke, everyone was screaming and yelling. I jump out of bed and race into the lounge; believing that there would be bad news awaiting me. When I get to the lounge I find that there is nothing threatening people, but just that Slytherin will verse Gryffindor in the first game of the Quidditch season. “Dolores, Slytherin gets to play the first game of the season! Even better it is against Gryffindor!” Lucius exclaims; there is so much excitement in his voice. “Wouldn’t it be great if Slytherin won the game? It would show that Slytherin is no house to be messed with.” Lucius asks. It does not take much thinking on my behalf to come to the conclusion that I do hope Slytherin will win. “It guess it would be nice if Slytherin won, but my elder brothers play for Gryffindor and I don’t really want to upset them or see them lose. I would not be able to bear seeing them cry again because of Slytherin; especially considering it was because of this house that I was not sorted into Gryffindor.”
Three hours later as we are sitting on the bleachers at the Quidditch Pitch, I notice someone glaring at me from across the field. The person, a female, looked familiar. “Lucius, you see that girl sitting on the other side of the field? I recognise her form somewhere, I just can’t pin-point exactly where from or what her name is.” I ask Lucius. He looks over to where I am pointing; it takes him less than a few seconds before he replies, “That’s Gwenitha Pillvet. She was sorted into Hufflepuff. Her father was a Slytherin and her mother a Gryffindor. Hey family had hopes she would be sorted into Slytherin, however, because she has both Gryffindor and Slytherin traits the hat put her in Hufflepuff. I grew up with her; but after being sorted she changed, she is no longer as nice and friendly as she used to be.” He replies.
It is the start of the game and Slytherin is off to a great start. Scorpius Greengrass, our seeker, is on the tail of the Golden Snitch. The Gryffindor seeker, Ben Sturre, is a distance behind Scorpius. Whilst I am watching this a voice booms commentary over the speakers. “Sturre closes in on Greengrass. It looks like Gryffindor could actually have a chance of winni…” Before the commentator can finish his sentence, Scorpius catches the snitch.
“And Slytherin has won the first Quidditch game of the season!”
