Muggles thoughts
In a thirteenth century tale a Swiss knight named Heinrich von Winkelried supposedly killed a dragon and died of the dragons blood.
Wizarding world
Almost every part of a dragon can be used in potions, Hogwarts’ headmaster discovered twelve magical uses of dragon blood. The heartstring is used in many wands and is considered one of the most powerful cores.
Dragons are also one of the most magical resistant creatures. For example the stunning spell is almost the only effective spell against dragons. But also when the dragon is deceased it’s difficult to affect the dragons organs with magic. For example the dragon liver, often used for antidotes or poisons, is physically though and can barely even be cut with a sharp silver knife.
This trait seems to hold true in all known species. It is thought that at one time there was only one species, which started evolving. Because of some factors they grew so differently that they officially were different enough to qualify as a different species. Now there are 15 known species.
Given that the protection is also effective when dead and is visible in all dragon species some dragonologists think the protection is coded in their dna. Another theory is that the dna is just heavily drenched in magical energy.
In the year 1709 dragon breeding was outlawed at the Warlocks’ Convention. There are places like the Romanian Dragon Sanctuary that are dedicated to the preservation and study of dragons. Another strictly regulated aspect of dragons is the trade of dragon eggs. These are a strict Class A Non-Tradeable Material in the magical world. Chinese Fireball eggs are popular ingredients in fertility and luck potions in certain areas.
The claws of a dragon are known to boost memory and intelligence, as well as improve focus. This is not addictive but can be dangerous. You are creating and utilizing these chemicals more quickly than your brain is equipped, this could wear down your nervous system.
