Lesson Six: Potions Lab Pepperup Potion Part 1 Study Guide

This style of the potion is made in pewter cauldrons & uses Celsius temperature.
Glover Hipworth invented the Pepperup Potion in the eighteenth century. He had a poor immune system & wanted to cure colds & flus. Accidentally, Glover added ginger to his experimental brew & create this potion instead. Commerically, Waynard & Sons LLC supplies the Pepperup Potion for distrubution. If you were to add the bicorn horn while heated, it will turn red & splatter or explode. It can cause burns.

Total Brewing Time (EBT): 2 days, 1 hour, 30 minutes
Ingredients:
⊱ 1L of water
⊱ 4ml of red wine vinegar
⊱ 5ml of bouncing spider juice
⊱ 3ml of infusion of wormwood
⊱ 4 tbsp powdered bicorn horn
⊱ 2 whole ginger roots
⊱ 3 fairy wings
⊱ 1 mandrake root
Instructions
1. Add 750ml of water, heat to 90 degrees Celsius, & cut 1 mandrake root into slices. Add half of mandrake root & slice 1 ginger root, & add to the cauldron.
2. Stir twice clockwise, heat to 110 degrees Celsius for 45 seconds, & decrease to 90 degrees Celsius. Brew for 53 minutes. The potion’s color is a pale orange with pink steam & sparks.
3. Crush 2ml of vinegar, 2ml of bouncing spider juice, & 3 fairy wings to the mortar & pestle. Add to the crushed ingredients to the cauldron.
4. Heat to 90 degrees Celsius for 20 seconds & remove from heat. Add 2 measures (tablespoons) of bicorn horn. Stir once counterclockwise. Wait for 10 seconds, & heat to 90 degrees Celsius.
5. Add infusion of Wormwood, 250ml of water. Brew for 25 minutes. The potion’s color is a deep red with a deep orange steam.
6. Slice 1 ginger root, a mandrake root, 2 measures (tablespoons) of bicorn horn & add to the cauldron. Leave on the flame. Stir twice counterclockwise.
7. Add 3ml of spider juice & 2ml of vinegar. Stir once clockwise. Heat to 110 degrees Celsius for 45 seconds & decrease to 90 degrees Celsius & brew for 10 minutes. The potion’s color is a bright orange with a yellow steam.
Usage Notes
Store in clear phials while the potion matures for two days. Keep at room temperature in darkness. Once matured, store in a cool temperature for five years. It can be ingested by itself, with honey, or with sugar. It tastes like cinnamon & burnt hay. This potion aids in soothing colds which includes sneezing, wheezing, congestion, sore throats, mild fevers, & coughing. While ingesting, a burning feeling in the throat may be felt. Steam will come out of the ears as well. Side effects of the Pepperup Potion includes tingling of the limbs, sweating, & short lasting vocal abilities. Do not take this potion before socializing within the public eye. Small children & pregnant women must have a prescription before ingesting it.
