A Troubadour's Tales: Tandem Edition

Chapter 26

A TROUBADOUR’S tales…

The Tandem Edition. A column by SARA ROWAN, consisting of delightfully crafted poems she spun from threads of imagination throughout the months of June and July.

—-------------------------------

Dance, dance
Till you see the Sun
Dance and dance
Hope it will never come

Feet move in practised
Rhythms before
Love runs through
As I dance evermore

The light shines
Above and beyond
It takes me to
A land of song.

DANCE IN THE LIGHT.

—-------------------------------

Crowned in light,
In a blaze of glory,
A bloody fight,
A tired story.

Told by a poet,
Of ages beyond,
He recounts tales of old,
In his weary song.

THE BARD.

—------------------------------

A windstorm comes,
Sweeping across the fjord,
In centuries,
Not seen one like this before,

The ice follows suit,
And breaks with the dawn,
I fall and break with it,
The world crashing down.

THE FJORD.

—-------------------------------

Love, are you there?
Where’s your hair?
Love, what’ve you done?
What have you become?

Don’t ruin yourself,
Ruin me,
I’ll take the pain,
Down on my knees.

Anything for you,
Take it out on me,
You’re worth my whole being,
Soon you will see.

AARON WARNER.

—-------------------------------

How touching,
Yet never so,
How sweet and yet,
So long ago.

BITTERSWEET.

—-------------------------------

Never come back,
Never be there,
Never stay silent,
Never have care.

Always go back,
Never understand,
Always abandoned,
Never take care.

RECKLESS.

—-------------------------------

You threw a stone at my balcony,
Begged me on your knees,
Said I’d be the one,
To help you be free.

I don’t know who you are,
It’s late after dark,
Your wails haunt me,
Long, pitiful, and far.

HELP ME.

—-------------------------------

Drowning alone.
The water, it’s red-
Red from what?
I’m not sure.
Perhaps from myself.
Perhaps that is so.
Perhaps I am
Drowning.
Alone.

DROWNING ALONE.

—-------------------------------

Her hair is bubblegum,
Her teeth whitened stain,
She skips in a blue frock,
Not minding the drizzle of rain.

Her braids flip-flop here and there,
She twirls without a care,
Till she drops in the drain, her screams lost,
And the bubblegum pops, happiness cost.

BUBBLEGUM.

—-------------------------------

She’s driving her car,
With Olivia and Jane,
They glance at her hair, boots, and chains,
They’ll never have what they came.

Olivia smiles, tells a joke,
She laughs and laughs.
Jane gives her a look,
Of envy and disgust.

She’ll never get it,
So Jane thinks.
She’s got everything,
Olivia sighs.

JEALOUSY JEALOUSY.
