Birthdays in August:

Ginny Weasley - August 11th
This witch is remarkably beautiful, talented, and kind. She needs no introduction, but I'll provide one anyway, it’s Ginny Weasley! Ginny was born in 1981 and will be turning forty-three years old this year! It’s incredible how quickly our favourite characters grow up : (

Celestina Warbeck—August 18th
Known as “The Singing Sorceress,” Celestina Warbeck was born in 1917. While it remains unknown as to whether she is still alive today, her music inspired many witches and wizards. Although she has faded from the spotlight in recent times, Celestina’s legacy continues to live on.

Porpentina "Tina" Goldstein - August 19th
Another beloved member of the Fantastic Beasts Series, Tina Goldstein was born on this date in 1901. She enjoys spending time with and spoiling her grandchildren. As of 2017, she was still living in Dorset with Newt, at the age of 116. This year, she celebrates her 123rd birthday.

Percival "Percy" Weasley - August 22nd
The third child of the Weasley family, Percy was born in 1976. For a time, he prioritised his job at the Ministry over his family. Fortunately, after witnessing the Ministry’s corruption firsthand, he reconciled with his family and loved ones to play an important role in the Battle of Hogwarts. This year, he will be turning forty-eight.

Dolores Umbridge - August 26th
Dolores Umbridge—the infamous figure we all love to hate. A happy birthday may be off the table for her and I certainly won’t judge if you feel the same way! Her story is well-known: she took control of Hogwarts, but was eventually defeated by the Golden Trio. This year, she turns about 65 years old.

It is also rumoured that Albus Dumbledore’s birthday falls sometime between the month of July or August.

Deaths in August:

Rufus Scrimgeour - August 1st
Although he was only Minister for Magic for a brief amount of time, he was a dedicated Auror and skilled wizard hunter. May he rest in peace.

Frank Bryce - August 16th
Frank was housekeeper for the Riddles. Beneath his bitter and cold demeanour, he was really just a sweet old man, who was picked on by the townspeople. Tragically, he was murdered at the hands of Voldemort. May we remember Frank, and honour his memory.

Events That Occurred During August:
1997: The Ministry of Magic fell under Voldemort’s control.
1997: Bill Weasley and Fleur Delacour were married.
1995: Harry Potter had his hearing for the Dementor case.
1945: Tom Riddle travelled to his fathers hometown and murdered his paternal relatives.
