Cinco De Mayo
Chapter 10
Hello readers!
It’s my pleasure to introduce you to the holiday "Cinco De Mayo." This is a celebration for the Mexican troops who won against the French invasion. Cinco De Mayo is celebrated on May 5th every year in remembrance and celebration of those who fought and died for their home. Traditional food is often eaten, such as “Mexican Street Corn,” “Carnitas,” “Tamales” and “Fish Tacos.” However, the official dish of this day is “Molé poblano." The word “molé” is a term for many different sauces, but it is “molé poblano,” which is a thick and savoury chocolate and chilli sauce originating from Puebla. Made with MANY chilies, this is commonly a spicy dish.
Traditional Activities ~
Many people will celebrate this holiday differently; however, many common traditions can include but aren’t limited to:
Eating Guacamole
Loteria, which is a common Mexican board game
Paper
Flowers
Parade
Dancing
Piñata
Sombrero
Cookies
Tacos
All of these things are widely done and enjoyed. Many people will enjoy dancing to and singing traditional Mexican songs.
Conclusion ~
In conclusion, Cinco De Mayo is an important holiday that celebrates the culture and traditions of Mexico. And with that… FELIZ CINCO DE MAYO!
