National Titanic Remembrance Day

Chapter 7

Stories have been told. Books have been written and controversial, the best in my opinion, films have been made. On April 15th every year, memories of many sail across the ocean of time, to when the RMS Titanic sank.

This day of the year marks the 112th anniversary of the sinking of the "unsinkable" ship. (I know even Mr Birling from an inspector call was wrong). People found it hard to take in the new seriously-after all, this was a luxury ship. Many lives were taken during the disaster, but bravery and the willingness of sacrifice could be seen everywhere. So, let's all observe it by not only learning about the historical day but by remembering those who have died with their outstanding behaviors known to this day

On this day, let us take responsibility for our part in order to show respect to those who have lost their lives saving others. Even though they have passed I am sure they'd be very grateful and honored. Lets not forget , some people survived yet that doesn't mean they are not important. For example, Mr. Charles Lightoller did very well in the rescuing effort. He firmly made sure that every single child and woman were the first to be safely escorted to the lifeboats, and helped save 30 people who had been thrown out of the overturned lifeboat rescuing them back to safety. After the event, he spoke out for the safety of ships and today many of his ideas are now made into certain laws.

Another fantastic way to celebrate the day is to watch the film, Titanic. It was released in 1997 and told a love story based on the real events that happened, and don't forget to eat a couple of snacks shaped like ships!

Now you've learned more about the National Titanic Day, I'm sure you'd have some ideas of how to observe the day. Make sure to honor those poor people whose lives are long lost on that sad day.

Enjoy yourself!
