Charlotte
Night fell quite quickly. I was shocked that it wasn’t snowing when I left the mansion for the small cabin. I'm sure if the sun was up it would be melting the snow away. I was growing homesick. I do enjoy everyone's company, but I do miss talking with Delilah and Hellen, baking random treats, and annoying Rose.
“As soon as it stops snowing, we’re going back to New Haven, right?” I asked, lying on the sofa. Edmund was sitting on the floor, warming up to the fire.
“I hope so. You said that nobody knows where we are, correct?” Edmund questioned.
“Only my mother. I left her a note.”
“Okay. So, she most likely told my Father and Lewis. Lewis most likely told Rose.”
“Rose likes Hellen, so she probably told her. And then Charles.”
“So mostly everyone knows?”
“Pretty much.”
“Wait, what about the Pattersons?”
“Don't worry. I left Delilah a letter. I slipped it under her pillow. I trust her more than I trust my mother to keep secrets and I couldn’t decide whom to give a note to, so I gave it to them both. I gave her the okay to tell James. I don’t want him to worry either.”
“So, the Pattersons know as well?”
“Only Delilah and James. That’s if Delilah told him.” Edmund nodded his head. Then an awkward silence filled the room.
“I'm going to sleep. Goodnight, Charlotte,” Edmund stood up, gave a slight bow to his head, and left for his room. I was now sleeping on the couch. Matthew and Alice stole the room I was sleeping in before, so now it was just the sofa and me.
I was just about to close my eyes when I heard the door creak. I instantly sat up looking at the front door to the house. I stood up and dusted off my gown. I closed the door to stop any more cold from getting inside. I turned back around to find a small hat and a giant feather sticking up from the couch.
“Hello?” I walked around the couch to find a young woman petting a cat.
“Charlotte, correct?” The girl stood up, her cat jumping on her shoulders. The girl had a large velvet-colored gown on. Her hair was lying flat, flowing down her back with curls. She had bright red lips and long gloves covering her arms. Her cat had one deep green eye and one bright blue like the sky. The cat was white with a bow matching its owner.
“Yeah? Who are you?”
“Clara. Clara Turner.” the girl shook my hand politely. “This is Theodore.” This was another Turner who had come to New Haven for the wedding.
