Charlotte
“You’re scaring me Hellen!” I said while Hellen climbed a tall oak tree. Hellen threw me the sack of supplies.
“Hurry up Charlotte! We don’t have all day!” Hellen yelled down to me, sitting on a branch. I hesitantly took off my heels too and attempted to climb the tree before giving up and just stepping back from it.
“If we need to hide this badly, I have a cave across from the meadow that would work better!” I called out to Hellen.
“I'm already on this tree, Charlotte! Now, if you want to survive around Charles, you kind of have no choice.”
“You were just fighting him an hour ago!” I grabbed the tree once again and began to climb. I was beginning to grow grateful for the bakery. If it wasn’t for me constantly mixing batter or carrying pales of water, I wouldn’t be able to climb a tree for the life of me. I climbed far enough up to be on the branch across from Hellen.
“Took you long enough,” Hellen said as she began to climb higher into some leaves. I followed her after taking some deep breaths. We were now in a bunch of leaves sitting on branches out of view. “Do you want a muffin, Charlotte?” I nodded my head leaning over to Hellen and grabbing a muffin. I just fiddled with it in my hands as Hellen was looking down as if she was hunting for an animal.
“What are we even doing here?” I asked leaning back a bit. “You know how clumsy I am. I’ll fall if we stay up here too long.”
“Shush! I hear someone coming!” We both looked down at who it might be. It was just Rose, Juniper, and Delilah running off to what I assumed would be the meadow.
“They’re going to the meadow without me! Can you believe that? How rude!” I was being a bit too loud for Hellen’s liking. She had a look on her face that screamed “Put a sock in it, Charlotte!” I broke out in laughter that was the most entertaining thing that happened in this tree. I heard a cracking sound. We both instantly looked back down, thinking it was someone stepping on branches.
“Charlotte your branch!” Hellen said in a worried tone.
“Yours too, Hellen!” Both of our branches were breaking. I looked at Hellen, then her branch. We both screamed as we fell a good ten feet. I fell into a pile of mud, sticks, and plants. I sat up looking for Hellen when I looked over to find her also sitting up. I was just about to walk over to the girl when she stood up in fear. I looked around to find next to Hellen a man groaning in pain. I ran over to Hellen looking down at the poor guy.
“Oh my gods, its James!” I yelled.
“Oh no. I killed James!”
