Hippogriffs are legendary creatures that are half horse, half eagle. They first appear in the writings of Virgil, an ancaient Latin poet, and have since appeared in numerous tales, poems, and artworks. Hippogriffs are similar to another mythical creature, the Griffin. Like Hippogriffs, Griffins have the front half of an eagle but instead of having the back half of a horse, they have the back half of a lion.
