The ancient Greeks  worshiped many gods within a culture that tolerated diversity.Stories about the origins and actions of Greek divinities varied widely widely, depending, for example on whether the task appeared  in a comedy, tragedy or epic poem. The Greek mythology was like a complex and rich language,in which the Greek could express a vast range of perceptions about the world.A Greek city-state devoted itself to a particular god or gods in whose honor it built temples. The temples usually housed the statue of the god or gods.
