I'm Tessa. This is my story. It's a long story, so no "long story short" because I just can't. You can't miss anything in it....You need to know. So read it or don't read it. Here it goes.

"Catch me if you can Tessa!" My best friend Autumn shouts while pedaling away on her bike.

We're racing to the ice cream shop.

"Oh trust me, I will!" I promise and jump onto my bike.

I pass her about a block away from the shop. "Awwwwwww!" She says when I pass her.

I reach the shop and wait for her there. She walks up to me with her bike, panting. "Let's...go get....the ice...cream." She says between breaths.

"Okie dokie." I smile at her and we walk up to the door. We walk to the counter and I get a vanilla ice cream cone, and she gets chocolate.

"That'll be $4.50," the cashier says. She gets some money from her pocket and so do I. We pay and go back outside with our ice cream.

We ride back to her house after eating our ice cream. We start playing basketball, and my phone rings. It's my mom.

"Hello?" I say.

"Hi, sweetie. Time to come home." 

I frown and say, "Fine."

I end the call and tell Autumn I have to leave.

"Okay! See you at school tomorrow!"

"See ya then!"

I ride back home and when I get there I put my bike in the garage. I go inside. "Hi honey!" My mom says. "Did ya have fun?"

"Yup." My mom calls my older brothers -- Josh and Robert -- down. "Dinner time!" She yells.

For dinner we have asparagus and steak. "I have a special announcement," Mom says. "The reason Dad isn't home yet is because he got a promotion!"

"So that's what the fancy dinner's for," Josh says.

"What? What fancy dinner?" Mom says. 

"Oh...um, never mind." 

"Uh-huh."

After dinner I watch the television for a bit. Finally, it's time for bed. I hug Mom and Dad (who finally got home) good night and fall asleep quickly.
