Going Up.. From Where?
Chapter 2
Julie woke to the sound of her guardian, Mr. Snape, calling her down for breakfast. She groaned, sounding a bit more like a squeal with her sore throat. She wished that daylight had never existedd, as it was keeping her and her cold awake. She looked at her end table. It was covered with pictures of her- one when she was five and on some remote playground with no-one in it, one when she was eight in her first garden, and one she had taken just last week in her new birthday dress. She had turned 11 already, and couldn't wait to go to school. The only thing making her wish that school didn't exist: She probably had the worst cold ever, from the day she turned 11. Mr. Snape had been brewing her tons of potions for days now, but it only stopped her runny nose. She rose out of her lime green duvet and out of her bed.
When she got down to the small kitchen, Mr. Snape took one look at her and went to the cabinet. As she slowly sat down at the table. She stared at her pale eggs with the little suns of yolks in the middle. The dainty little peices of toast were the finishing touches to her simple-but-elegant breakfast. She reached for the jam jar to spread some blackberry jam on her toast with the little gem-encrusted knife. Mr. Snape came back with a bottle of thick black liquid and said "This should do the trick for sure"
She drank it. It tasted really good. It made her feel... correct. Fixed. Like something wild and mysterious inside her had just woken up.she looked around. Her sight seemed to have gotten a lot better. She looked at Mr. Snape. "What was that?", she asked extatically.
"You, my friend, just drank a bottle of evil and survived. Now I know what the missing ingredient was"
"The missing... ingeredient?"
"Do you feel any better? Good, go and pack your trunk. The train for school is leaving tomorrow, and I want you to be on time, as well as the fact that as soon as I get you to the station, I have to apparate to the school gate so that I can prepare my class", he said severely, changing the subject entirely. Julie sighed and went up the stairs and back to her room.
Julie had always been a short girl of sorts, but on the way to her room, she felt a bit taller. She kept feeling a little bit taller with every staep she took. When she reached her room and looked in the mirror, she was amazed. She had grown about a foot taller, the average size for her age. She was very happy for this, because she did not want to be made fun of in school , especially not on the first day.
