Liber Singularis Carminum: A Unique Collection Of Magic.

written by [No Name]

Hogwarts School of Witchcraft of Wizardry provides a suitable education to the budding youths of the magical community. That said, it doesn't quite teach you everything there is to know. Inside you will find a compilation of spells ranging from utility charms to defensive jinxes. Inspired by the book 'Mondelwyn's Encyclopaedia of Enchantments,' available in the Library.

Incendium: Charms Of Fire.

Chapter 4

3.1 The
Warming Charm

Incantation:
Focillo.

Motion: Slow, clockwise circles
towards the target.

Termination:
Terminates naturally with the desire of the caster, or if
concentration is lost. Can be countered with the chilling charm (4.1).

This charm radiates a subtle yet effective warmth in a
cone-shape from the tip of the wand. An increase of willpower will intensify
the heat, though it cannot reach a level where the heat would cause damage.
This charm is often found imbued in materials, e.g. self-regulating cloaks.

3.2 The
Fire-Making Charm

Incantation:
Incendio; Inflammare.

Motion: A ‘flame’ like motion,
curving up and right, then down and right.

Termination: As this charm creates
mundane flames, they must be put out as usual fire would be, e.g. water,
smothering, running out of fuel.

This charm, regardless of the incantation chosen, creates
fire at the target location. This can be used for something as simple as
lighting a candle to something grander, such as in combat. The flames this
charm creates are entirely mundane, they cannot be undone with a cancelling charm.
That said, magical means can extinguish the flames in certain manners, such as
the water-making charm (4.2).

Variations: There are two known incantations for this charm, both listed above. 'Incendio' is the better-known incantation, though 'inflammare' offers certain advantages. This incantation can be combined with a pointer-word to better direct your spell to its target, for example, "lacernam inflammare" would specifically target a cloak to set fire to, as opposed to their jumper or even their body. Particularly skilled wizards could use a pointer such as "candelabra inflammare" to ignite all candles within a room, for example.

3.3 The
Arcane Fire Charm
☆☆☆

Incantation:
Ardens Facere.

Motion: Starting with the wand
pointed at the target, draw an equilateral triangle, ending where you started,
this should be completed whilst saying “ardens.” Then, from the ending position,
draw a second equilateral triangle, but upside down and above the first, during
the pronunciation of “facere.”

Termination: The Cancelling Charm
(Introduction).

This charm creates a fire that does not require mundane fuel,
unlike the fire-making charm mentioned above. Instead, this fire is fuelled by
the willpower of the caster. The more willpower exerted, the longer the charm
can last. A true master of this spell can create a flame that will burn until
his death, though that is a rare sight indeed. Though this spell does not require mundane fuel to burn, it will cause flammable objects to ignite, damaging them beyond repair should it get out of hand. For this reason, I suggest using this spell in safe environments and keeping it away from flammable materials.

3.4 The
Boiling Charm

Incantation:
Feverefec.

Motion: A wiggling motion, starting
at the target and ending a few centimetes above it.

Termination: --

As its name suggests, this simple charm almost instantly
boils water. Definitely recommended for making tea!
