Chapter 2

I woke up, thinking of the day ahead. Just me and Willow, not talking about murder. Opening the cupboard, I took my most beautiful clothes for my first impressions to Willow’s parents. I took the perfect dress and headed downstairs. The table was clean with some fresh yellow and blue flowers on top. The table is never clean. As I was heading to the bathroom to comb my hair, I heard a knock on the door. I ran to the bathroom as fast as I could to sort out my hair so I could hug Willow. But that would be unladylike.

I stepped out of the bathroom, and my first sight was Willow’s clothes. It was so informal.

“Hello Jade, I’m so pleased to see you again. What are you wearing? Ha! It looks like you're about to get married,” she shouted, laughing her head off.

“Willow, don’t speak so loud. It is a dress, I know you're not used to it. You're the person who always wears jeans but that is most informal Willow.” I argued

“The thing is, my parents said to wear a dress and I refused. So, you should change too. We must be ready for another murder case.” she whispered

“Willow, there is no need for you to whisper. I guess I could change. However, I am most awfully sorry but father doesn’t let us talk about murder. Last term was something different. Why don’t we head to my room. Actually, I must meet your parents first. In the letter, you said that you are also inviting your cousin, uncle and auntie.” I explained

“Oh yeah, I guess so. But no murder!! That’s the whole point of coming here. You don’t wanna talk to my cousin, he is really annoying. Same to my uncle and auntie; worst family ever. I don’t want to be rude, but they are very british. Too posh. When I talk about murder, they just all walk away and then my parents just keep quiet. What is the problem with these people?” she moaned.

To be honest, I agreed with her family. Murder is not something normal people want to talk about. Willow is not normal, she is far away from that.

We trotted to the living room, where everyone was and at once Willow’s cousin shouted at me and said, “Who is this girl? Her dress is too posh, I don’t like it. Mummy! Make her go away, I’m allergic to dresses. Eeew!”

“Darling, don’t say that it’s rude,” the aunt whispered to the boy. “I’m terribly sorry, he is very young,” she apologised.

“Oh, don’t worry about it. Jade was like that when she was little. Always saying things she shouldn’t,” mother said, smiling at me. Willow giggled and I elbowed her in the ribs. “Ow, what was that for,” she whispered. I grunted and sat on the remaining seat.

“Thank you, you're so kind. My name is Emily, Emily Jones. This is my husband, Noah JOnes. These are Willow’s Parents, Ava Jones and Maxwell Jones,” the aunt introduced.

“Hello,” both the parents said together.

Father said that me and Willow were able to go to my room now. Willow ran off, up to my room.

Both me and Willow jumped on my bed and slumped down like a couple of Lazy sloths. “What’s your cousin's name,” I asked.

“Alexander,” she replied and those were our last words before we fell asleep.

Willow shook me so hard that I woke up in a split second. It was time for breakfast!

The table was covered by a white cloth and croissants, bread and many other pastries were laid neatly on the table. My mouth was already watering and when my father said to eat, I pounced to the nearest chair and dived in. Mother looked at me with furrowed brows, so I sat straight and ate like a lady, which wasn’t very fun at all.

Once breakfast had finished, Emily stood up and said she had important work to do. Willow looked at me, I knew what she was trying to say. Her aunt has been saying that for the last week. Father did say not to talk about murder but this was not murder, I thought.

“Willow, don’t you think that it could be a bit weird. You know, wanting privacy when you are with friends?”I asked

“Jade, I see where you're going. You want my aunt to do a crime,” she stated

“No, No. I don’t want to be rude,” I exclaimed

“No, this is great Jade. I never liked my aunt. This is my time to get revenge,” she cackled, holding her hands up looking like a witch.

We creeped into her office, our hands behind our back, and slowly pushed the door slightly open. Inside, her computer was on and she was messaging someone called…

She saw us and told us to get out before I even got to read who she was messaging. Willow looked disappointed and stomped her way to the kitchen. Of course, as soon as we got into the kitchen, she changed expressions. I knew at once, she was going to go to her aunt’s room when it was empty.

“I know what you are going to do,”  I whispered before she said anything.

She grinned, then nodded.

“You saw the A, the name starts with an A. List all the A names,” she ordered.

I took a piece of paper and saw a marker, so I took it. Listing all the names that begin with A.

-Amelia

-Ava

-Abigail

-Alice

-Aubrey

- Avery

-Agatha

Willow looked at me, saying that there were also boys in the world so I wrote a list with boy names beginning with a.

-Andrew

-Alfie

-Alexander

-austin

-Adam

-Alex

-Amir

-Archie

“Actually,”I said. “I don’t think Agatha is a name that people use nowadays,” I was about to cross it out but Willow held my arm and said, “You never know Jade. Agatha just might be the name and so would Austin.” I was about to cross out Austin too until she said that.

It was until a few hours later, me and Willow were bored. We both knew that this was not a good crime. It was just her aunt doing work. Willow sighed and lay on my legs. I then also sighed and lay on the floor.
