Entry Number One
Chapter 1
Okay. The first thing I want to make clear is that this is NOT a diary, it's a journal. I write down stuff that happened and how it made me feel. NO, it is NOT a diary. Now, onto today's entry. (Writing is in a different color because she is writing with blue ink. Bold is just comments she's making before the entry.)
Entry Number One: September 1st, 2015
Today was my first day at Hogwarts. I was astounded by the beauty of the star ceiling in the Great Hall, which I had read about beforehand in Hogwarts: A History, but it was so much cooler to see it in person. I was scared that the new Sorting Hat wouldn't put me in the right house. Of course, I didn't know which one to pick, but I felt like I would know if I belonged in that house if the Sorting Hat put me in it. They say the new Sorting Hat was made of the stitched-together pieces of the burned Sorting Hat. It still has it's signature rip, but it's smaller and covered in burn-marks. It doesn't really mind, though. At first, when I put the Sorting Hat on, it wanted to put me in Hufflepuff, but it decided that I was to be a Ravenclaw in the end. Then we got to sit down and eat! I was so hungry, I ate a huge slice of chicken pie and drank several glasses of pumpkin juice, but I made sure to save room for dessert (and was glad I did, the fruit tart was delicious!). Now the day is coming to an end, an it's time to go to sleep. Our beds are beautiful, and I've heard that they were fixed with an enchantment that makes them grow or shrink according to your height. That's so cool! Today was my first day at Hogwarts, and it was wonderful.
First Year,
Hazel A. Quigley
