Young Adult Muggle Fiction:
Book Chosen: Nameless: A Tale of Beauty and Madness
Author: Lilith Saintcrow
(Rated by Luna Silverprint)
I really enjoyed this book. The end was a little confusing and Saintcrow kept introducing new ideas without completely explaining them. But I did like the story idea and it gives a new perspective on the tale of Snow White. On the whole I would say to read it if you have time on your hands for a light-hearted and enjoyable story. |

Book Chosen: We Fell Apart From Within
Author: Bella Black
(Rated by Luna Silverprint)
Even though only the prologue is up I can’t wait to see how this book describes the Marauders’ 7th year. The prologue was very well written and left me disappointed that there wasn’t another chapter. I hope Ms. Black updates soon, as I would like to see more. |
Completed Book in the HiH Library:
Book Chosen: The Riders
Author: Jamie Pevensie
Jamie Pevensie weaves a magical tale of dragons, lost mothers, and strange winged friends, twisting adventure and subtle humour into this book. The Riders follows the story of Princess Lorelei, heir to the throne of the Red Dragon Kingdom. Kidnapped by a nearby Kingdom, she faces her rivals and finds secrets bigger than she ever could have imagined. The only criticism I could give was that the pace was slightly too fast and the main character lacked a little character development The Riders was a brilliant read, easily in my top twenty books, although be warned, the suspense will kill you. |
Muggle Fiction:
Title: The Paper Magician
Author: Charlie N Holmberg
Genre: Young Adult Fiction
(rated by Victoria Lewis)
I found this book to be a very interesting read. Set in turn of the century England, it follows the story of a young apprentice magician after leaving her university at a very accelerated rate. She didn't get to choose the material she works with but learns to love it. Even as a beginning apprentice she has a very dire and exciting adventure, travelling through unmarked territory and defeating one who practices the darkest material magic anyone could work with - human flesh. ★★★★ |
New in the HiH Library:
Title: Gracefully Breaking Through
Author: Calypso Hawthorn
Genre: Site fanfiction
Current Chapter(s) Out: 1
(rated by Victoria Lewis)
Although there is only one chapter out, the narrative painted a picture of what it is like to wait for your Hogwarts letter. I believe that the author could have put a few more details into the chapter, but it is just the beginning of what I hope to be a wonderfully long running fanfiction. ★★★ http://www.hogwartsishere.com/library/book/4025/read/ |
Completed Book in the HiH Library:
Title: Hogwarts Extras and the Marauder's Map
Author: Madeline Johnson with credit also awarded to Mikaela McParlan
Genre: Site fan fiction
Current Chapters Out: 12
(rated by Victoria Lewis)
I like the pace that the books sets. It's very descriptive and quite light hearted - I found myself laughing and smiling through quite a few chapters. I also like how it fits perfectly side by side in the Harry Potter series and is set from the point of view of someone in Slytherin. On the whole I find this a definite must read if you need a good pick me up ★★★★½ http://www.hogwartsishere.com/library/book/68/read/ |
