Chapter 5
“Jade, I promise it was there, I was not lying!” Willow shouted
“I know, you don’t have to shout at me. You know, I also saw it with my own eyes but it is shocking that you told me this at around 15:29 and we arrived here at 15:33, so in 4 min the body disappeared.” I thought to myself, feeling suspicious.
All of sudden there was a bang, we looked up and the door to the cellar just closed.
Running for our lives, we headed down to the cellar but nobody was there. Me and Willow knew they could be here somewhere. But Willow gave up and went away, I was going to ask what she was doing but I had no energy to.
The next day, Mr Paul knocked on every door and told us to go to the assembly. Everybody's jaws dropped down as normally there was no assembly on wednesdays so they liked it as they could wake up later.
Willow copied down everything that Mr Paul said; I think she felt suspicious.
No need to tell a rough summary of what he said because Willow has wrote everything down:
“Hello everybody, I see you didn’t all put on your ties this morning but I do understand you were in a rush so don’t walk out here complaining that I complained about you. This will be a short assembly as I only have one announcement today. Headmistress Spindle told me to take over the assembly today, as you can see, she is sitting over there in the corner. This will be a very shocking statement that I have to tell you, but Miss Burbank will no longer be with us. I have been told that she has retired and is taking a break, this was said in a letter from her. Now, I don’t need anyone crying because I know she was all your favourite teacher but she deserves a break after all the hard work she has done.”
Willow’s words:
“Sir, when did she leave and will she be coming back. Also, when did you get the letter?”
Back to Mr Paul:
“Willow, I may answer you these questions but that will be all for the questions today. I believe her last day was Monday, and she arrived to collect her things yesterday afternoon. And no, she won’t be coming back. We got the letter early this morning.
Well, that’s all for today. Everyone work hard and listen to your teachers. Thank you, you may now all silently leave the room.”
Me and Willow looked at eachother with confused expressions. Mr Paul had just said she retired but we literally saw her on the studio balcony. Even better, she was DEAD. Not retired. Willow said that sir is only saying that because he doesn’t want to scare us. However we changed thoughts, as Sir walked past us with the letter in his hand holding it in front of our faces. He did that because he wanted everyone to see how sorry Miss Burbank was ‘cause half the children were crying and the headmistress was not happy. Willow was now really confused.
“Maybe, someone who knew Miss Burbanks handwriting really well wrote a fake letter,” I said trying to calm Willow down who was now having steam come out of her ears.
Slowly revealing her smile, she replied,”Your right Jade, I don’t believe it, you're actually right! Though, that means it must have been someone in this school. Or, but less likely, someone not in this school who knows Miss Burbank extremely well. Great job Jade! We will start investigating teachers first on this side.”
Oh yeah, I forgot to tell you that they have already separated boys and girls.
I listed all teachers on this side:
Mrs Doyle
Ms Rhodes
Mr Maddox
Mr Paul
Miss Becky
Mrs Hail
Mr Ash
Mr. Oakley
Miss Gibson
Mr Payton
Ms Jones
Headmistress Spindle
