I was heading out of lessons to the gym, and something terrible happened to me.

It was at the dance studio balcony when I saw something, something dead. People say that nobody gets murdered at this school. I think they’re wrong, actually I don’t think, I know. It was one of the teachers called Miss Burbank.

I knelt down and touched her face;it was cold and frozen. She was dead, I’m sure of that. This could be a mission for me and willow so I ran to get her.  

“Willow, Willow, I’ve got a mission, there is someone on the studio balcony, dead!” I screamed at her with all my might.

“Oh, Jade, please be quiet. You might want to send back a letter to your parents, here’s a paper and pen,” she replied.

I did not know what had just happened, did she ignore me. Grabbing the paper and pen, I sighed, heading to our room. This is what I wrote:

Dear Mother,

How do you like my new handwriting? You don’t have to be so angry at me, we are learning how to use contractions at school. It makes it easier to write. I can teach you, if you’d like. I’ve stopped watching boys fighting, it’s become very violent. Father will not be able to punish me as I  would like to stay here for christmas. I have got my test result back for French, and I got an A+. I hope they separate the boys, they really are annoying, I can agree with you on that.

I am very proud of my handwriting but mother will still not be happy with me as I am still using contractions. Then as soon as I put my pen down, there is a knock at the door. Miss Hedgy came in with a letter and asked me if this was my mother.

Dear Sir/Madam

I am writing to inform you about how you have put together the boys and girls. Unfortunately, I do not agree with this. You have now made my child struggle by watching the boys fight, it is the most gruesome thing ever. I see that you have two sides of the school and I advise you to use one for girls and the other for boys. This will mean that they are not allowed to speak or in any way, see and communicate with each other. One of your problems will be the amount of teachers. However, I have sent three teachers for each subject. Please do not say no as I have worked hard to send these teachers.

I looked up and said, “This is my mother, she, ummm… is a bit harsh but she would be very happy if you do it.”

She gave me another piece of paper and said she was going to write this back.

Dear May Chen,

Yes, we are able to do this but it will take a while.

“Great letter, ummm… it’s a bit short but yh, I guess you could do that.”

She sighed, walking away.

“Jade, Jade, you won’t believe what I just saw. Miss Burbank is dead, on the dance studio balcony, her face is all cold,” Willow whispered

“That’s what I was trying to tell you earlier but you didn’t listen. Instead you gave me a paper and pen to write a letter. What did you think I said!!” I shouted at her, disappointed. 

“Oh, I’m really sorry, I didn’t realise, come on, let’s just go check it out,” she replied.

I still didn’t forgive her but anyway, I followed her to the studio. 

The gym itself was dark and cold. There was no way I was going to see that dead body again.

Me and Willow stepped into the dance studio balcony but there was no dead body. The body was gone.
