My Life As A Year One Student
When I found out I could write my own book, I couldn't help myself! This book is a "non-fiction" of sorts, not about the world of Hogwarts in the movies, books or any textbook. I offer insight into what life is like for a first-year student at Hogwarts. For those of you who are first years, you can share my pain, for those of you who have passed year one, you can remember when you were in my shoes. I offer valuable advice on how to survive being a first yeasr student and having 7 subjects.

Fan Fiction No Copying
Chapter 1
I had to write a short story for my year one Potions class. Please enjoy the story but do not copy my ideas for your own story/assignment. I wanted to save this story somewhere because I quite liked how it turned out. This isn't a short story, it is more of a scene of a longer work. I might do a longer work on this, like a short story or a novel, but I am not sure.
Hermoine Granger wore tight-closed shoes, a white jacket that reached down to her knees and safety goggles. Her wild untamed hair was tied back in a no-nonsense bun. She carefully read the instructions and made sure she had all the ingredients on her table to make the mixture.
Her best friends, Ron Weasley and Harry Potter stood on either side of her. Ron leaned over her shoulder.
"What are you doing there, Hermoine?" Ron asked
Hermoine grumbled and flicked her head towards him. Although they were friends, sometimes Ron could be really annoying especially in class.
"I am doing my work which is what you should be doing too," she said
"She's right, Ron," said Harry, laughing. "Go back to your own desk and at least try to make the potion yourself,"
"It's not a potion," said Hermoine, shaking her head. "A potion is a mixture of compounds. We are only making a mixture which had a lot of non-reactive substances.
In front of Hermoine were the ingredients she needed to make this mixture. She had a lock of Hercules hair, a lucky rabbit's foot, and a pair of onions. The trick was the pair of onions had acid that could sometimes react with other substances if not handled properly. But that was the only tricky part.
Whatever Hermoine did, Ron copied off her. Harry was also copying but at least he was subtle about it. Hermoine carefully picked up one strand of a very fine Hercules hair and dropped it in the cauldron which was over a fire.
Hermoine used her tongs to carry the onions. Ron watched her and did the same. Hermoine shot a look at him and then brought the onion to her nose. Ron did the same and his nose wrinkled.
"I feel something coming up--"
Ron sneezed. His saliva went into the cauldron and-BOOM, a small explosion blew up in Ron's face.
"Ron Bilius Weasley," said Professor Batyaeva "Go sit in the corner and learn why we don't mix other things that are not on the ingredients list,"
Ron's whole face turned red and he picked up his wand, his bag and slumped to the corner. Meanwhile, Hermoine had already cut the onions and dropped the sliced onions in the caldron. She added the lucky Rabbit's foot and stirred it. Hermoine then transferred the mixture into a bottle and brought it to the Professor.
"Excellent work, Hermoine," said Professor Batyaeva "Now go and add unicorn tears to it,"
"The unicorn tears is the solvent and the mixture in this bottle is the solute. In 24 hours, the solvent, the unicorn tears will dissolve the solute, that is, the pair of onions, the Hercules hair and the lucky rabbit's foot,"
"Good work," said Professor Batyaeva "Good work indeed,"
Hermoine took back the bottle with a faint smile on her lips and went to the cupboard that had all the solvents, to add the unicorn tears to her mixture. The mixture was now a solution. Fin
There you have it! I will update this chapter with the grade that I get for this. If my grade is less than 80%, I will take down the whole thing completely. Although I didn't work on it much, I really do like what I've accomplished and for any year one students taking Potions class, feel free to share your own story either in the comments below (do we have a comments section?), or write your own book and then tell me about it.
