Lithe-Light Potion

Chapter 2

Estimated Brewing Time:
Pewter Cauldron: 6 hours, 19 minutes and 30 seconds
Brass Cauldron: 5 hours, 41 minutes and 33 seconds
Copper Cauldron: 5 hours, 7 minutes and 23.7 seconds

Total Brewing Time:
Pewter Cauldron: 4 days, 6 hours, 19 minutes and 30 seconds
Brass Cauldron: 4 days, 5 hours, 41 minutes and 33 seconds
Copper Cauldron: 4 days, 5 hours, 7 minutes and 23.7 seconds

Ingredients:
3 L of water
100 g of charred dragon bone1
4 Abraxan feathers1
50 g of montroydite1
31 mg of macerated Electromoss2
A 2 x 15 cm strand of mango peel2
2 imp kidneys2
79 mL of elderflower extract3

Instructions

Part One:
1. Add 1 L of water to your cauldron.
2. Bring the heat to 428 Kelvin (154.85°C/310.73°F).
3. Add 2 Abraxan feathers to your cauldron, then stir its contents three times counterclockwise.
4. Crush 10 mg of charred dragon bone with your hands and add the resulting chunks to your cauldron, then stir its contents twice clockwise.
5. Set a metal tray covering the opening of your cauldron, then place the 2 imp kidneys on the tray.
6. Bring the heat to 500 Kelvin (226.85°C/440.33°F) and let the potion simmer in your pewter cauldron for 26 minutes and 30 seconds.
(This would be 23 minutes and 51 seconds in a brass cauldron and 21 minutes and 27.9 seconds in a copper cauldron.)

Uncover the potion by removing the tray as soon as the simmering process finishes, making sure to not spill the released blood. You should see the potion shifting quickly from a lemon yellow to taupe. A blast of white smoke is produced when the potion is uncovered - if the produced smoke is darker, this means that your potion has brewed for too long.

Part Two:
1. Add 1 L of water to your cauldron.
2. Bring the heat to 341 Kelvin (67.85°C/154.13°F).
3. Siphon the blood released by the imp kidneys into a mortar, then add 31 mg of macerated Electromoss to your mortar. The imp kidneys must be reserved for a later step.
4. Crush the macerated Electromoss and imp kidney blood mixture until you obtain a smooth paste, then stir the contents of your mortar once counterclockwise.
5. Add the paste from your mortar to your cauldron, then stir its contents four times clockwise.
6. Add 1 Abraxan feather to your cauldron, stir its contents twice counterclockwise, add the final Abraxan feather to your cauldron, then stir its contents twice clockwise.
7. Set a metal tray covering the opening of your cauldron, then place a metal bowl containing 90 g of charred dragon bone and 79 mL of elderflower extract on the tray.
8. Bring the heat to 513 Kelvin (239.85°C/463.73°F) and let the potion simmer in your pewter cauldron for 2 hours and 8 minutes.
(This would be 1 hour, 55 minutes and 12 seconds in a brass cauldron and 1 hour, 43 minutes and 40.8 seconds in a copper cauldron.)

Uncover the potion by removing the tray as soon as the simmering process finishes. The potion should have a periwinkle color with a luminous sheen. No smoke is produced, but you should be able to detect a faint scent of camphor. If no smell is produced, this means your Electromoss was collected during a non-stormy season, making it necessary for you to supplement its quantity before continuing.

Part Three:
1. Add 1 L of water to your cauldron.
2. Bring the heat to 396 Kelvin (122.85°C/253.13°F).
3. Delicately add the mango peel strand to the surface of your potion and wait until it dissolves into the brew, then stir the contents of your cauldron three times counterclockwise.
4. Transfer the charred dragon bone and elderflower extract mixture from the metal bowl to your cauldron, then stir its contents four times clockwise.
5. Use the Reductor Curse on 50 g of montroydite, transforming its chunks into a fine dust.
6. Add 25 g of finely powdered montroydite to your cauldron, then stir its contents once counterclockwise.
7. Add the 2 drained imp kidneys to your cauldron, then stir its contents twice clockwise.
8. Add 25 g of finely powdered montroydite to your cauldron, then stir its contents once counterclockwise.
9. Bring the heat to 450 Kelvin (176.85°C/350.33°F) and let the potion simmer in your pewter cauldron for 3 hours and 45 minutes.
(This would be 3 hours, 22 minutes and 30 seconds in a brass cauldron and 3 hours, 2 minutes and 15 seconds in a copper cauldron.)
10. Turn off the heat and stir the contents of your cauldron three times clockwise. Bottle the potion and let it mature for 4 days; while maturing, the vial must be shaken at least once every 12 hours.

The final potion should be burgundy and smell like ylang ylang. When consumed, it has a sandpaper-like texture and a taste reminiscent of coffee.

Storage:

Conserve the Lithe-Light Potion in a dark and cool place, away from direct sunlight. For best results, the potion vial should be opened every 15 days, although the potion can remain effective to a lesser extent if this procedure is not observed. This brew has a shelf life of one year.

Usage:

Consume 20 mL of the Lithe-Light Potion on its own. The potion begins to produce effects 10 minutes after consumption - make sure you are aware of that and do not rely on the brew in case you are caught in an ambush or other emergency scenario.

Caution:

The Lithe-Light Potion cannot be consumed more than once every 30 days. Repeated consumption of the concoction generates temporary symptoms that resemble the Jumping Frenchmen of Maine Disorder. Each repeated exposure adds X days to how long the side effects last, with X being equal to how many times the potion has been consumed in the last 30-day period.

Example: A person consumes the Lithe-Light Potion on January 1st, January 16th, January 23rd and February 20th. On January 1st, no side effects happen. On January 16th, there was one previous consumption in the last 30 days (X = 1), meaning the person will be affected for one day. On January 23rd, there were two previous consumptions in the last 30 days (X = 2), meaning the person will be affected for three (1 + X) days. On February 20th, there were two previous consumptions in the last 30 days (X = 2, since January 1st was not in the last 30 days), meaning the person will be affected for five (3 + X) days.
