IQA vs. ICC World Cup - Sports News from Around the World for Both Magicals and Muggles
Chapter 4
All of us, including sports fans as well as the ones who go ughhhhh at the mention of sports, know about the 422nd Quidditch World Cup Final, which took place in August 1994. Yes, it was the match our famed hero Harry Potter attended with his friends and the Weasleys, preceding his fourth year at Hogwarts. The Quidditch World Cup was taken by Ireland, having defeated Bulgaria with scores of 170-160, but the riot caused by the Death Eaters that broke out afterwards ended up becoming more memorable.
Enough of that. Why am I digging up the past? You may be wondering. Well, die-hard Quidditch fans are aware that the IQA, or International Quidditch (Quadball) Association, World Cup was held on July 15-16, 2023, that is, earlier this year. It was held in the United States, at Richmond, Virginia. The match took place at Glover Park. The champions were the United States.
For the Muggle-borns, who have grown up hearing of cricket and football rather than Snitches, Quaffles, Seekers, and Victor Krum, the ICC, or International Cricket Council, World Cup Final was held between Australia and India at Narendra Modi Stadium in Mohtera, in Ahmedabad, India, and Australia won the Cup, beating India by six wickets, securing their position as record-extending winners, this time being their sixth time. The match was held on November 19, 2023. Australia's win ended India's dominant run in its home tournament.
