Mistreatment of Goblins in Society

Goblins were often treated as trash in society. Most humans believed that goblins themselves were creatures of the underground and thus were treated as dirt inside of medieval society. As explained in Chapter 2, you can see how the Youkin Empire treated the goblins of the Goblin City over a simple matter of land. Most historians agree that the reasons behind the mistreatment of goblins were:

1) The fear of goblins by common people - Many kingdoms around the world at that time fed false lies to their people enticing goblin fear in the common people, even though goblins hold deep and powerful magic, they do not do any harm unless provoked. A well-known example of this propaganda would be when the Kingdom of Camelot's very own mage community were told that Goblins were the natural predators of humans, and thus would kill them on sight for no reason.

2) The wealth of goblins - Goblins at the time (and still do) almost treat gold and other valuable metals with such a high standard that they hoarded large amounts of gold. Many kingdoms at the time saw this, and thus decided to attack goblins to try to take their gold.

3) Magic - Like we have mentioned beforehand, goblins possess very deep and powerful magic of their own. Due to the belief of magic channeling, or the belief that magic can be taken from other magical beings (this is of course false and disproved now), goblins were often targeted for their magic. This caused the goblins to become highly defensive and thus whenever goblins were very defensive around humans. This caused humans to create a bad image of goblins inside of society.

This shows how badly goblins were treated within the society at the time. This was one of the main reasons for the Goblin rebellions of 1612.
