The studious and talented Professor of Ancient runes is our professor of the issue: Professor Mathilda Stevens! She has taught her subject on for a long time now and has long been a silent, busy worker for her beloved class. She is also the Ravenclaw head of house, helping many a befuddled first year and supporting her PA team with care.

Biography*:

Born in 1976 in Eastern Scotland. 1987-1994 Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry (Ravenclaw) Received Os in all subjects at O.W.L.s and N.E.W.T. level. Her N.E.W.T. years were devoted in particular to Ancient Runes and History of Magic. After leaving Hogwarts, Professor Stevens proceeded to study Ancient Languages at Muggle University, and spent several years studying in Oxford and St Andrews. She has published widely on Runic Artefacts, and also spent time working with curse breakers and magiarchaeologists in places as far apart as the South American Amazon forest and the Australian outback, studying ancient scripts and magical symbols. Professor Stevens has recently returned to her original focus on Runic texts and artefacts, and in particular certain manuscripts held at Hogwarts, so when she was invited by Headmaster Baelog to take over the vacant position of Professor of Ancient Runes, she gladly accepted.
