Quidditch Player Of The Issue – Izaak Merdel
Chapter 10
-Quidditch Player of the Issue – Izaak Merdel-
This issue we will be covering a new and somewhat unknown face to the world of Quidditch – Izaak Merdel, who graduated from Muggle University only one year ago and took a crash course in Quidditch before attending seeker tryouts for the national team and being accepted as a player.
Merdel is a Dutch wizard who was taught at magic home from a remote area, unable to attend a wizarding school, and then proceeded on to mingle with muggles as well by studying structural engineering at Muggle University for two years. However, he has apparently always been interested in Quidditch and gave it a try shortly after graduation to find he had a natural skill at it, particularly in the area of seeking. This talent seemed to grow during the crash course he enrolled for and his coach urged him to try out for the team, later commenting he knew that Merdel would be an excellent addition to it. And sure enough, the coach was right and Merdel, joining the team for the new Quidditch season, has already proved his worth several times.
Merdel is said to be an easy-going player who is very nimble in the air and has excellent reflexes and observation skills. He accepts any interviews and behaves very naturally in them, clever but honest, and has soon become a favorite of Dutch Quidditch Supporters. He is engaged to fellow Dutch Quidditch player Monika Ferdand, who plays reserve chaser on the team, the two meeting whilst training last year, and has just celebrated his twenty-fifth birthday.
