Antioch Peverell
Chapter 2
Antioch Peverell was the oldest of the three brothers meaning that he was the original owner of the Elder wand. Now, the Elder wand is supposedly the most powerful wand in the world but, what exactly makes it so powerful? Well, the reason the wand is so powerful is not because of the wand itself but more because of the spell the wand was casting aka the killing curse. But how did Antioch come to learn the killing curse?
In a more detailed version of the story of the three brothers Antioch states that he wanted a wand
"more powerful than any in existence; a wand that must alway win duels for its owner, a wand worthy of a wizard who hand conquered death!"
"conquered death". For those of you who don't know; the meaning of the word conquered is to overcome or take control of something. To conquer death in this context is to take contole of it. Sound familiar?
The killing curse is a spell that contoles death, as Antioch put it, a wizard that knows and can use the killing curse is a wizard that conquered death. As no one could figure out how or why Antioch or Antioch's wand was so powerful was because no one else knew about the killing curse or how to use it. This would imply that Antioch created the killing curse.
Still not convinced? Well, that isn't the only evidence pointing toward Antioch being the creator. The Elder wand is supposed to 'always win duels for its owner' however they Elder wand has been beaten many a time beforefor example; The time Albus Dumbledore defeated Grindelwald in 1945 and the tim Harry Potter defeated Voldemort in 1998.
The Elder wand has a thesteral core hair which is a potent, but tricky core to master; only a witch or wizard who was capable of excepted death could do so. So even if you are the owner of the Elder wand you would still only be able to master it if you had excepted death. In other words the wand can only be at it's most powerful if the owner had excepted death something Antioch Peverell had not done which is even more reason to believe that it was the killing curse that made it powerful, not the wand itself.
