Lesson Two: Kappas Study Guide
Chapter 3
Kappas live in water, residing in rivers & lakes. They have webbed toes & fingers, but will come on land when they are hungry. If there is no water in their hollow, the Kappa is paralyzed & can die from starvation. If you just throw a cucumber into the water, the Kappa will have no idea where or who it came from. Names have power because it is the essence of a life. Once a Kappa ingests your written cucumber, it can identify you & even see you as a friend. Once the cucumber is out of their system, they can attack you, as they identify you as a foe.
Kappas are rated XXXX & are dangerous due to them attacking humans. The best way to defend yourself against a Kappa is to be polite, as they must be polite back to you. Bow towards them until they do the same. Its water on their head will empty & cannot move. You can either flee & leave it to die or get water & refill their head. By refilling their head, Kappas will see your kind gesture & won't attack. Before swimming in lakes or ponds, write your name on a cucumber & drop it into the water. Iron, ginger, & sesame wards off Kappas.
