Cereal Valentine
Chapter 1
It was a special time of
year for most. Well, like I said; for most. For everyone who was single
in the world, it was just a reminder that they weren't in a
relationship. That's right, you guessed it. Valentine's Day. For most,
they'd either be spending the day with their significant other, hanging
out with friends, or sitting in their room sulking about their
loneliness. But not Luna Lovegood. She got up that morning like it was
any normal day. Because it was to her.
Luna got up that morning
and got dressed like it was another day. She put on her white dress
shirt, gray sweater vest, gray skirt, blue and silver tie, socks and
purple converse. She felt especially happy today, so she put on her
turnip earnings. After prepping herself, she grabbed her bag and her
fathers latest addition of the Quibbler and headed downstairs for breakfast.
When she walked into the
Great Hall, she was immediately bombarded with the sight of love.
Couples were everywhere holding hands, some snogging, some laughing and
feeding each other breakfast, and others just being completely
inappropriate and looking like they were about to get to third base at
the table. Luna payed no mind to them and made her way to her house's
table. She reached the Ravenclaw table and sat down and began reading
her fathers magazine. It was a few minutes into her reading when a heavy
envelope was dropped in front her.
Luna took it and looked
at it. It was marshmallow yellow colored and her name was scrawled on to
the front of it. She shook it. The contents inside felt light and made a
tiny crunching noise when she shook the bag. She carefully opened to
envelope and emptied some of the contents into her hand. She was a tad
confused when out came a small handful of cereal. The rest of the table
had watched her in curiosity. But it wasn't until the Slytherins saw her
before anything happened.
Someone came up from
behind her and snatched the envelope from her. She turned around to see
the cold eyes of Draco Malfoy staring at her with disgust and amusement.
He took the contents out of the envelope and dumped them into his
hands.
"Well, look at this
everyone. I didn't think Looney could've gotten any loonier but it turns
out even I could be wrong." He said with a malicious grin. He took the
pile of cereal and dumped it into Luna's hair. Everyone began to laugh
but it didn't faze her. She had gotten used to it.
She got up from the
table and grabbed her things before heading to her first class, which
was Charms, early. As she walked she managed to pick out a good amount
of the cereal that was poured on her hair. When she entered Charms,
there was no one in the room yet. She took her normal spot in the left
side of the classroom and pulled out some unfinished homework.
Now, this class would
have gone normal like any other day. But it didn't. Because about
halfway through the class, another envelope was dropped into her lap.
She grabbed it and shook it. She didn't need to open it to know what was
inside. She could here the cereal shaking from inside the envelope. Of
course, this made everyone laugh their arses off.
But it didn't stop
there, no. Throughout the day she had received a total of eleven
envelopes full of the cereal. To everyone around her, they thought this
was hysterical. The Slytherins would taunt her while she walked to class
and everyone else whispered behind her back while snickering. They all
thought this must have been some amazingly planned prank.
As Luna walked back from
dinner after her long day of taunting and cereal droppings, she made
her way to the Ravenclaw tower. But as she rounded a corner, she saw a
marshmallow yellow colored piece of paper with her name scrawled on it.
She took the piece of paper and read what was inside. It was a note
telling her to go to the owlry.
Luna made her way up to
the tower; curious to see what could be awaiting her. She slowly made
her way up the widening stairs. Upon reaching the top, a pleasant and
surprising sight met her eyes. A blanket the same color as the note and
the envelopes was spread out on the ground. On top of it sat a purple
bowl and spoon, a carton of milk, and a yellow rose. There was another
note in the bowl.
Luna put her bag down
next to the blanket and sat herself down in front of the items. She
picked up the note with her small fingers and read it. All it said was "Enjoy",
but that was all she needed to know. She took all the envelopes and
dumped their contents into the bowl. She poured some milk into the bowl
and began to eat it. Not many people knew this about her, but her
favorite snack was, oddly enough, cereal.
As she ate, she eyed the
yellow rose and remembered what day it was. Valentine's Day. A small
blush formed on her cheeks as she looked at it. Who could have done this
for her? She didn't think anyone liked her. She was too deep in thought
and busy enjoying her cereal to notice someone watching her from the
stairs. Neville Longbottom stood there out of her view, with a very
pleased smile on his face and whispered,
"Happy Valentine's Day, Luna."
