Many of you know that in classical magic, there are certain spells to perform and certain ways to perform them. In the Purification Arts, this is not true. In the Purification Arts, there are techniques that are done to create an environment in which qi, or internal energy, is harvested and used to create the environment necessary to cast qi spells. Martial arts are the basis for most spells and casting. If you already do a martial art, you have an advantage. The first technique we will learn is called the nine syllable mudra, or kuji-kiri. This series of hand gestures may seem useless an ridiculous, but they invoke power and magic. Study these until you can get them perfectly and quickly and you can feel the energy flowing through you.
