My Handbook of Duelling

written by Hiya Debnath

This book was created by me as a handbook of duelling using information from all the lessons covered at Hogwarts in different subjects from the first year to the seventh year at Hogwarts along with my personal tips for duelling to guide others and me and help others and me in my duelling practice and in my duels in the wizarding world. You will not find the rules of engagement in this book, because I believe you already know it, but you will find a lot of basic and advanced information about and for duelling, that will be helpful and useful to you and me.

Duelling Spells- Hexes- The Bat-Bogey Hex

Chapter 22

Effect: - Transforms your opponent's bogeys to large bats that fly out of your opponent's nose. It is illegal to cast this spell on non-human targets, as it can be fatal to the non-human creature.

Spell Type: - Defensive.(usually only used to cause a distraction)

Spell Block: -

Incantation- Volamucus, pronounced as vol-ah-MYOO-cus.

Wand Movement- A sideways hourglass.

Willpower- Moderate, must overcome the will of the target.

Concentration- Moderate, concentrating on the target.

This spell was used by the famous witch Mrs. Ginny Potter, who was then Miss Ginny Weasley, to help the members of the famous Dumbledore's army and also in one famous incident at the Hogwarts Express. She was praised by her brother, the famous wizard, George Weasley, for her skill in the spell.

Please note that hexes are the second classification of Dark spell. Hexes are a bit darker than jinxes and will often do more lasting damage than jinxes. Hexes have effects that cause more damage to the target and are viewed as major inconveniences that cause a moderate amount of suffering. Hexes need to be reversed through the use of a Hex Breaker. Since this is the first duelling hex in this book, I took the liberty to mention this information here.
