I am waiting for 18
Waiting for the voices to be silenced
And the hallways to go away
Waiting for the pencils to stop writing
And for all the work to stop
Waiting for the pressure to release
I am waiting for 18
Waiting for the cars
And waiting for the jobs
Waiting for the freedom that life just seems to be
I am waiting for the birthday cake
And the obsessive family meeting
I am waiting for it all
I am waiting for 18.
