Chapter 13
THE CLOVIS (OR KAIA-VAHA)
The original term for the people who first came to America was "Kaia-Vaha" according to magihistorians, but in 1935 it was decided to call them "the Clovis" to link the historical record of Muggles and wizards and avoid confusion.
The drawing known as "El Va Oua" shows Clovis people working in a cave, and contains information about magic in that period and region. They are believed to have brought phoenixes with them from India or Egypt, using them for their healing powers and as winged beasts of burden. They are also credited with using protective charms on stones to ward off evil spirits.
At that time, muggles and magical beings lived together and wizards were appreciated for their help. They hunted megafauna to survive, sharing their food with Muggles and teaching them to use all the animal parts.
The Clovis became extinct during a climate change called "The Mass Cooling", which caused difficulties for Muggles as wizards could use heating spells, while many Muggles died of hypothermia.
THE OLMECAS
The Olmecs were an important and unique culture in the Americas as they introduced the system of hierarchy into their society, with witches and wizards holding the highest positions as rulers and shamans. Rulers were believed to be representatives of the gods and young wizards were expected to display their power to become future leaders.
Additionally, the Olmecs were known for creating The Great Pyramid and Colossal Heads, impressive monuments that highlight the collaborative skills between wizards and Muggles. While wizards enchanted and moved the stones, Muggle craftsmen carved and shaped these extraordinary statues. Their culture marked a milestone in history, being one of the first civilizations to use hierarchies and combine magic and Muggle abilities in their works.
THE MAYANS
The Maya were a Mesoamerican civilization that lived in Central America and parts of southern Mexico, from approximately 2000 B.C. C. until 300 a. C. Its preclassical period covers until the year 250 CE. They pioneered the formation of village-oriented lifestyles and developed farming skills from witches and wizards learning how to grow food.
They used jade and obsidian, the latter for divination, leading many magical historians to consider them the first soothsayers. The Maya had a rich and complex culture, with its own system of writing, language, and sociology. His integration with magical people also contributed to his success and survival over time.
