TNFG-101 WEEK I

Chapter 1

This information is taken from the notes provided by Professor Mitchell

Transfiguration is a very precise and delicate branch of magic. It consists of the exchange of objects for others, through magic, altering our physical world. Not only the appearance but also the molecular structure is altered.

You have to be careful, because making a mistake is very dangerous, so it is not magic to be taken lightly.

It is the most scientific branch of magic, which is why there is a strict and systematic approach to incantations and wand movements.

There are four branches of transfiguration:

-Transformation

-Vanishment

-Conjuration

-Untransfiguration

formula of transfiguration

t= (w*c/v*a)*z

t= intended transfiguration difficulty

w= wand power

c = concentration

v = viciousness

a=mass of beginning object

Z=unknown variable

This is a theoretical formula and only one of the variables, out of the four known, is actually measurable.

The dangers of transfiguration

Transformation has many opportunities for things to go wrong. It is important not to try spells above your year, to avoid these situations.

If a spell is unsuccessful or fails, it can prevent items from completing their transmogrifications. In objects it may not seem serious, but it is in terms of human transformation.
