Monster (Marauders Era)
Rachel Wagner doesn't want to have anything to do with the Marauders. She wants to stay the quiet, ignored girl that she was since she started school.
But when she and Remus Lupin begin studying together at the library every night, she wonders if all the Marauders are as bad as Sirius and James.
Meanwhile, a brilliant and powerful wizard named Tom Riddle is gaining followers all the time. He is looking for excellent wizards all around England to carry out his duties. He decides to look at Hogwarts first, disguising himself as a temporary Herbology teacher. Few students even know about Tom Riddle's growing power, and not many of them are willing to warn others about “Professor Delrid.” Luckily, one of them happens to be Remus John Lupin, who is willing to tell Dumbledore about this either brilliant or monstrous wizard. But what happens when Rachel finds out about Remus's “furry little problem,” and Rachel decides to confide in Professor Delrid?

Chapter Seven - Remus
Chapter 8
As
I walked towards the door to the boys' dormitories, I tried to
remember what had just happened.
Rachel had forgiven me. She
had studied with me until past curfew, and she had actually acted
like she had had a good time! I grinned
to myself at the thought of
her smiling when I talked and knowing the answers to the hardest
questions.
And
then I remembered I couldn't be with her. I was a monster and if I
was ever her girlfriend, then all I could do is hurt her. Friends is
as close as we would get.
When
I walked through the door, I saw Sirius and James staring at me,
grinning. Peter was fast asleep by my bed, muttering something about
lemon drops.
“Heya, Remus!” Sirius
said, grinning like a maniac. I straightened up.
“What are you saying? I
wasn't doing anything at all!” I said, shrugging my shoulders. “Why
do you ask? You know me, I was just in the library!”
James and Sirius just grinned
at me. James raised an eyebrow and glanced at Sirius, who grinned
wider.
“Remus, you really
shouldn't try to act. Really.” Sirius said. I rolled my eyes
dramatically.
“What, you think I'm
acting? Me? Acting? Never!” I said, crossing my arms in front of my
chest defensively.
“Remus. Seriously.” James
said.
“By the way, you and Rachel
are so cute together!”
Sirius said in a high-pitched voice. I rolled my eyes, anger bubbling
in my stomach.
“We're not together,” I
said, my teeth clenched. “We can't. You know why -”
“Oh my god!” James said.
“You've kept the secret from the whole school for seven years, I
think you can keep it from one girl for a few months.”
“All I could do is hurt
her,” I argued. “And she doesn't like me back anyway.” Sirius
rolled his eyes.
“Come on, Remy!” he said.
My eyebrows furrowed. He hadn't called me Remy since our third year.
I decided to brush it off. “We all know you're just scared.” That
was it.
I picked up the nearest lamp
and threw it at the wall, causing several students to wake up and
stare at me in shock.
“YOU THINK I'M SCARED?” I
screamed. “I'M NOT SCARED, BLACK, I'M TERRIFIED! YOU THINK I WANNA
BE A MONSTER? YOU THINK I LIKE HAVING TO BE WHO I AM?” I took
James's Invisibility Cloak case and threw it at the wall, watching it
shatter.
“NO! I DON'T FREAKING LIKE
IT! AND I NEVER FREAKING WILL!” Tears were rolling swiftly down my
cheeks now. I turned around to face Sirius and James.
“YOU THINK I LIKE RACHEL?”
I screamed. “YEAH, I DO, I FREAKING LIKE RACHEL BUT SHE WILL NEVER
LIKE ME BACK. I WILL ALWAYS BE THAT FREAK WHO WON'T GET HIS HEAD OUT
OF A FREAKING BOOK!”
“Moony!” Sirius shouted
at me. I threw an alarm clock towards the wall to join the pile of
shattered glass and lampshades.
“MOONY!” Sirius shouted
again.
I regretted it as soon as I
did it.
I grabbed the empty aquarium
case sitting in the corner of the room. And I hurled it at Sirius's
face.
