Monster (Marauders Era)
Rachel Wagner doesn't want to have anything to do with the Marauders. She wants to stay the quiet, ignored girl that she was since she started school.
But when she and Remus Lupin begin studying together at the library every night, she wonders if all the Marauders are as bad as Sirius and James.
Meanwhile, a brilliant and powerful wizard named Tom Riddle is gaining followers all the time. He is looking for excellent wizards all around England to carry out his duties. He decides to look at Hogwarts first, disguising himself as a temporary Herbology teacher. Few students even know about Tom Riddle's growing power, and not many of them are willing to warn others about “Professor Delrid.” Luckily, one of them happens to be Remus John Lupin, who is willing to tell Dumbledore about this either brilliant or monstrous wizard. But what happens when Rachel finds out about Remus's “furry little problem,” and Rachel decides to confide in Professor Delrid?

Chapter Thirty-Three - Remus
Chapter 34
*2 years later*
“Rachel! Remus!” Lily said
as she opened the door. “How nice to see you so early!” She
closed the door behind us and leaded us through the halls into
Harry's room.
“You too, Lily.” I said,
holding Rachel's hand as we walked through the halls. Lily pushed
open the door to Harry's room and let us in.
“Wee-mus! Wa-chel!” Harry
said, waving his arms around in the crib.
“Harry!” I said, going to
pick him up from the crib and bounce him.
“I wouldn't do that,” a
voice from behind us said. “He just ate about a ton of applesauce,
and that kid will spit every ounce on you if you're not careful,”
James was standing at the doorway, smiling at his son. I laughed and
set him down.
“When's Sirius coming?” I
asked, looking at my watch.
“He's coming later,” Lily
says from behind me. “About 7, probably.” I nodded.
“We have food in here,”
James says, leading us to the kitchen. “Lily just made this
heavenly sort of soup, maybe you can make it for Remus and
Rachel?” Lily rolls her eyes.
“I was planning on just
making something simple, like spaghetti or grilled cheese,” she
says. James nods.
“That's fine too,” he
says.
“Is Peter supposed to
come?” Rachel asks, sitting down. Lily shrugs.
“He hasn't answered us
lately,” she says. I frown. What has Peter been doing that's so
important?
“Weird,” Rachel says.
James nods.
“I know. I swear to Merlin
we've owled him a thousand times, and he hasn't answered a single
one,” he says.

“Sirius!” James says,
opening the door to let Sirius in. Sirius ignores him and goes
directly to Harry's room, where he picks up Harry and talks to him in
his baby voice:
“Has Mommy and Daddy been
treating you right? They better have!” he says, playing with Harry.
“He absolutely adores you,”
Lily laughed. “He won't do that to anyone else.” Sirius laughs.
“I'm the best, am I? Good
choice, mate!” He says, trying to give him a fist-bump.
I found it funny how normal a
family can seem, when the darkest wizard of the age is after them.
I guess we can trust the old
saying: light can always be found in the darkest of times, if only
one remembers to turn on the light.
