Monster (Marauders Era)
Rachel Wagner doesn't want to have anything to do with the Marauders. She wants to stay the quiet, ignored girl that she was since she started school.
But when she and Remus Lupin begin studying together at the library every night, she wonders if all the Marauders are as bad as Sirius and James.
Meanwhile, a brilliant and powerful wizard named Tom Riddle is gaining followers all the time. He is looking for excellent wizards all around England to carry out his duties. He decides to look at Hogwarts first, disguising himself as a temporary Herbology teacher. Few students even know about Tom Riddle's growing power, and not many of them are willing to warn others about “Professor Delrid.” Luckily, one of them happens to be Remus John Lupin, who is willing to tell Dumbledore about this either brilliant or monstrous wizard. But what happens when Rachel finds out about Remus's “furry little problem,” and Rachel decides to confide in Professor Delrid?

Chapter Thirty-Two - Rachel
Chapter 33
As soon as I woke up that
morning, I jumped out of bed and pulled some jeans on. It was
Saturday; the last full day we'd be at Hogwarts. Ever.
Walking into the Great Hall,
I ran through what I'd say to Alice and Molly when I apologized to
them. Yes, it was late, and they probably wouldn't even listen to me,
but hey, it was worth a try.
So when I saw them sitting at
the Gryffindor table, nibbling on scrambled eggs, I strode over to
them confidently and cleared my throat.
They turned around and raised
their eyebrows at me.
“What do you want?” Molly
asked.
“I wanted to tell you that
you're wrong. Remus Lupin isn't a bad person, and you shouldn't have
said those things about him. But, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have yelled
at you.” I said. They stared at me, then, when they realized that I
was done speaking, Alice spoke up.
“We're willing to forgive
you,” she said, “if you don't yell at us whenever you want to.”
I nodded.
“Good.” Molly said. “We
can be your friend now.” I
nodded and walked off. That wasn't how I expected it to be. I didn't
think it would be that easy, for one. And... they way they talked to
me wasn't exactly friendly.
I brushed it off and sat at
the other end of the table with Remus and the others. I noticed Lily
and James were sitting together.
“Tell me this isn't a
dream,” James said. “Do something like...pinch me.” Sirius
slapped him in the face.
“It's real, mate,” he
said. “You're dating Lily Evans.” Lily smiled.
“You guys are crazy,” she
said. I grinned.
“You get used to it after
awhile.” I said.
“Students!” A voice
sneered over everyone else's. I looked up to see Filch standing at
the podium at the front of the Hall. “You are leaving early. Pack
your bags. We're leaving at noon.”
The students burst into
conversation. We just relaxed in our seats; we already had our bags
packed. We went to the common room to hang out until we had to leave.
Remus
and I read under a soft blanket for the rest of the time. Lily and
James had gone on their last date at Hogwarts, and Sirius and Peter
were sleeping on the couch.
Soon, we were heaving our
bags down the stairs and walking out the Entrance Hall, through the
Hogwarts lake, and to the Hogwarts train back.
“We won't be here again
until we have kids,” I muttered to myself. Remus heard me and
smiled. I covered my mouth. “I mean, if you -”
“Don't worry about it,
Rachel,” he said. “It's true, probably.”
We took the last compartment
in the back, as always.
For the last time, we all sat
in the compartment together in silence, taking in the beauty of
Hogwarts.
