Monster (Marauders Era)
Rachel Wagner doesn't want to have anything to do with the Marauders. She wants to stay the quiet, ignored girl that she was since she started school.
But when she and Remus Lupin begin studying together at the library every night, she wonders if all the Marauders are as bad as Sirius and James.
Meanwhile, a brilliant and powerful wizard named Tom Riddle is gaining followers all the time. He is looking for excellent wizards all around England to carry out his duties. He decides to look at Hogwarts first, disguising himself as a temporary Herbology teacher. Few students even know about Tom Riddle's growing power, and not many of them are willing to warn others about “Professor Delrid.” Luckily, one of them happens to be Remus John Lupin, who is willing to tell Dumbledore about this either brilliant or monstrous wizard. But what happens when Rachel finds out about Remus's “furry little problem,” and Rachel decides to confide in Professor Delrid?

Chapter Twenty-Six - Remus
Chapter 27
"Why are you still working?" James asked, raising an eyebrow at me.
"Rachel's homework needs done too," I said, scribbling onto her paper.
"You're doing her work?" he asked. I rolled my eyes.
"Obviously." James smiled.
"Good idea. I should do that for Lily sometime. Actually, I will. Tomorrow," he said, nodding. I took out the next paper and began writing in answers.
I was almost done with Rachel's work when I heard a hiss from across the library. I whipped around, looking for the verdict.
After a while, I went back to my work. Or, Rachel's work. I was finishing off the last question when cold hands grasped for my neck.
Gasping, I flailed around. I turned around enough to see a face I recognized - Professor Delrid. He smiled, showing a mouth full of pearly, spiked teeth.
"You have to die," he hissed. "Once you tell me about the curse, of course." I pulled as hard as I could on his hands, but they were like iron.
"Won't - tell -" I choked. Delrid smiled again and held up a vile of clear liquid.
"This will help you," he said as he began to open my mouth. I closed it shut, closing my teeth on one of his fingers. He growled and pulled on my jaw. I wouldn't budge.
"If you don't cooperate, I will just have to kill you and move on to Lily," the professor hissed. I brought my knee to his groin.
He howled, and his grip lessened a bit. I pulled free and pushed him over.
"No. You won't move on to Lily. You won't hurt anyone else." I said. I took out my wand and shouted, "Expelliarmus!" Delrid's wand flew across the room.
"Wingardium Leviosa!" I shouted. The wand levitated into the air and came closer to me. I took a deep breath. This is a dark wizard, Remus. You can cast a simple hex on him. He's done much worse.
"Sectumsumpra!" I shouted. I turned away as Delrid howled and screamed. I squeezed my eyes shut and ran for the door.
The first place I thought of was the Hospital Wing. It was a good place because both Lily and Rachel were there. I would warn them, then get Dumbledore.
I ran into the room, breathing heavily, to see Rachel and Lily sitting together, Rachel sitting up in bed talking animatedly to Lily. I hated to ruin it, but I ran to them. Rachel's jaw dropped.
"Remus - Remus, are you okay? You've got blood -" she stammered. I nodded.
"Look. Delrid - he's not Delrid. He's Voldemort, and he's after you two." Lily frowned.
"Why -"
"No time for questions now. I got him under control; he's injured, but only for a while. You guys need to come with me to get Dumbledore." They both nodded grimly.
Lily and I helped Rachel out of bed. She tried to walk, but Voldemort's curse was worse than ever right then, so I just swept her up in my arms and ran with Lily to the headmaster's office.
