Monster (Marauders Era)
Rachel Wagner doesn't want to have anything to do with the Marauders. She wants to stay the quiet, ignored girl that she was since she started school.
But when she and Remus Lupin begin studying together at the library every night, she wonders if all the Marauders are as bad as Sirius and James.
Meanwhile, a brilliant and powerful wizard named Tom Riddle is gaining followers all the time. He is looking for excellent wizards all around England to carry out his duties. He decides to look at Hogwarts first, disguising himself as a temporary Herbology teacher. Few students even know about Tom Riddle's growing power, and not many of them are willing to warn others about “Professor Delrid.” Luckily, one of them happens to be Remus John Lupin, who is willing to tell Dumbledore about this either brilliant or monstrous wizard. But what happens when Rachel finds out about Remus's “furry little problem,” and Rachel decides to confide in Professor Delrid?

Chapter Twenty - Remus
Chapter 21
“Should we even go?”
Rachel asked me. “Since we already know what he's going to say?”
I cocked my head.
“Probably,” I answered.
“Maybe there's something else that your dream left out.” Rachel
nodded.
“Yeah, we should stay.”
she said, then went back to her Herbology plant. We were supposed to
find out what the plant was that Professor Delrid had put in front of
us. I though it was gillyweed, but I had already asked and it wasn't.
“Do you think it's that
stuff that grows on trees...” Sirius mumbled. I rolled my eyes.
“Sirius, there are about
500 magical plants that grow on trees,” I answered. “It probably
is, if you look at the properties.”
“This is why you're our
friend, Moony,” James said, winking. “Without you, we would all
get Trolls on everything.”
“You do,” I muttered so
nobody could hear but me.
Turned out the plant was
Gurdyroot, as Xenophilius Lovegood, some Ravenclaw, had found out.
After class, Rachel and I
stayed in our seats, pretending to finish homework. When everyone had
cleared out, we stood in front of Delrid's desk.
“And what would you lovely
children like?” he asked, a bit of a sneer in his voice. Rachel
cleared her throat and began to speak:
“Professor, I have a
problem and I was wondering if you could help me,” she said,
looking at the professor, who was staring at Rachel boredly.
“And what could that
problem be?” he asked.
“Well...I happen to have a
curse...” she fumbled for words.
“Yes?” the professor said
impatiently.
“I can – my dreams – My
dreams tell the future.” she finally said. Delrid rolled his eyes.
“And what does this have to
do with anything?” he asked. Rachel winced and rubbed her temples.
“I was wondering if – if
it – had any – eff-effect on you when you t-t-told...” she
couldn't speak. She crouched over and held her hand, eyes shut
tightly, as Professor Delrid stared boredly at the two of us.
“What's wrong with her?”
he asked. I resisted the urge to scream at him.
“She's not in good health,”
I muttered. “Dehydrated.” I sweeped her up in my arms and carried
her bridal style to the door. “We'll talk later,” I said, jogging
to the hospital wing.

“Oh my,” Madam Pomfrey
mumbled as she cleared off a bed for Rachel to lay on. “Oh my,
she's not well.”
When she had the bed ready, I
set her down on it gently and sat beside her, grasping for her hand,
as Pomfrey fussed around her.
“What happened?” she
asked me.
“She was talking to a
professor...” I mumbled, thinking. I remembered seeing something
about a dark wizard growing in Britain. Trying to gain followers,
power....an image flickered in my mind of a young man, not much older
than me, maybe about 20...
I shook my head. Right. A
dark wizard was cursing Rachel. He was the Herbology teacher at
Hogwarts, too.
Right, Remus.
