Monster (Marauders Era)

written by Cayla Wilderman

Rachel Wagner doesn't want to have anything to do with the Marauders. She wants to stay the quiet, ignored girl that she was since she started school.
But when she and Remus Lupin begin studying together at the library every night, she wonders if all the Marauders are as bad as Sirius and James.
Meanwhile, a brilliant and powerful wizard named Tom Riddle is gaining followers all the time. He is looking for excellent wizards all around England to carry out his duties. He decides to look at Hogwarts first, disguising himself as a temporary Herbology teacher. Few students even know about Tom Riddle's growing power, and not many of them are willing to warn others about “Professor Delrid.” Luckily, one of them happens to be Remus John Lupin, who is willing to tell Dumbledore about this either brilliant or monstrous wizard. But what happens when Rachel finds out about Remus's “furry little problem,” and Rachel decides to confide in Professor Delrid?

Chapter Thirteen - Remus

Chapter 14

 “What happened?” James
asked, looking at my shocked face. “You okay, Moony?”

I couldn't talk at this
point. I could only nod and shuffle to my bed, eyes widened from the
scene five minutes ago.

“Mate, you gotta tell us so
we can punch the bad guy in the face,” Sirius said, flexing his
biceps. I just shook my head.

“Moon-moon, if you've got
something wrong with you, you gotta tell us,” Peter said, raising
his eyebrows at me. “Especially if it's about you-know-what.” He
was referring to my “furry little problem,” as Sirius and James
called it. I just shook my head again, staring at the empty bed in
front of me.

“Okay,” James said, “is
it good or bad?” I nodded again, causing him to grin.

“There we go. Now we're
getting there. Does it have to do with studies?” I shook my head.

“You-know-what?” I shook
my head again, beginning to grin. Sirius chuckled.

“Rachel,” he said, not
saying it like a question, but a statement. I nodded again, smiling
wider and wider every time.

“Oh my god. Oh god. She –
she -” I lost my voice. Not like frog-in-your-throat, though. I was
too excited and overwhelmed and overjoyed to speak in words.

“Forgave you?” Peter
asked, shrugging. I nodded again.

“Hugged you?” I nodded
again, smiling ear to ear.

“Did she kiss you on the
cheek?” Peter asked, raising his eyebrows at me. I shook my head,
grinning wider, if that was possible. Peter gasped.

“On the lips?” he
whispered, eyes widened.

Looking back on it, what I
did then was extremely stupid and embarrassing and if anyone except
the rest of the Marauders saw it, I might have died.

I started jumping up and down
and squealing. I squealed like a freaking pig and skipped across the
room with Sirius hopping along beside me. James got up and danced
around, too, and Peter stood up awkwardly and hopped about five times
until he got tired and he had to sit down.

After about ten minutes of
this, I sighed and fell onto my bed dramatically, which is also
extremely embarrassing looking back on it. Sirius flicked me on the
shin.

“Well, mate, I guess you've
got a girl now,” he said, getting into his own bed. James pouted.

“Lily yelled at me today,”
he said, frowning at the ceiling.

“Don't worry, Prongsie,
she'll get to you soon,” Peter said, closing his eyes in his bed.

“I've got less than a
year.”

“You'll be fine,” Sirius
said, “though I never thought Remus would get a date before you.”
