Why You Must Answer A Riddle
Chapter 1
Have you ever wondered why you have to answer a riddle to get into the Ravenclaw common room? If you have, read on! If you are NOT interested, the get the heck outta this book.
Once upon a time, the four founding wizards were taking a walk along the grounds of the castle.
"Oh, well, my house IS the most intelligent!" Rowena said. Rowena loved to talk about her students. Not to brag! No! Because she took great pride in them for being so smart, yet so kind! The others, however, were fed up with her talk about her students and decided to hold a meeting about it.
"Well, I for one, think that we should put an end to it and lock all her students in the common room!" Salazar yelled. The others disagreed and decided to just confront Rowena about it. When confronted, Rowena apologized, saying she had no clue that she was being rude and she would work on it.
Salazar, however, was not content with this apology and decided to get his revenge. He spent many nights alone in his room, trying to create a contraption that would trap all of the Ravenclaw students in their common room.
Finally, he created a contraption. Early that morning, he snuck up to the Ravenclaw common room. He stuck it on with a spell and left.
The next morning, Rowena went to wake her students...however, she was trapped by a small brass knocker on the door. She tried to enter, but the door would not open. She used the knocker, intending to wake up at least one student to open the door for her.
"I am tall when I am young and I am short when I am old. What am I?" The knocker asked.
Surprised, but not too much to answer, Rowena thought for a few minutes.
"A candle." She answered. The door swung open and she walked inside. Rowena was not mad, she was actually quite glad. She now had a way to keep unwanted people out of he common room. With a smile on her face, she woke her students and continued with her day.
