About five hours later I reached the town that was marked on the map. The town was in chaos. People were frozen in mid-scream. But they were not frozen in fear or coldness. They had turned into rock candy! It was sort of like in the Harry Potter books with the basilisk! Anyway, there were people everywhere frozen. I was starting to get worried about fighting this mega gummy snake thingy. Suddenly I heard a huge crash. I spun around to see a giant gummy snake behind me. It was not looking at me, and I’m very glad too because if it was looking at me I would not be here to tell you this story. Since I had read the second book of Harry Potter I knew that it would not be good If I looked at it’s eyes. Not good at all. Immediately I started to form a plan in my head. Since it turned people into rock candy, if it looked in a mirror it would turn itself into rock candy! I just had to find a mirror. Of course! I always carry a small mirror in my pocket! I just had to get the gummy snake to look at the mirror. Not impossible. Hard, but not impossible. I took out the mirror. I just had to get it’s attention. I yelled, “Hey!” That got its attention all right. The snake turned around hissing. I immediately closed my eyes tight. I held up the mirror and yelled “Look at your ugly face!” I heard a mad hissing sound and at first I thought my idea had failed. But then I heard a strange popping sound. And snakes do not pop. Then I knew it had worked. That was the sound of it turning into rock candy. “Hurray! I’ve done it!” I shouted. And suddenly the air was filled with cheers. The people unfroze!

An hour later I started back for the sugar palace with a medal around my neck. The townspeople had given me the medal for defeating the mega gummy snake. I just had to get to the sugar palace and tell the King and Queen.
