The History

Chapter 3

The history of the wand is very great, for example, the earliest wands appeared around 530 B.C., when they were made out of any sort of wood they could get to.The cores were usually some sort of feather, and they didn't always work, especially with some form of mundane bird such as pigeons, but surprisingly, the feather of a bald eagle could prove to be most effective.

Around 1259, wands started to evolve, becoming more and more powerful, and dangerous. The wood was most commonly oak, although cherry was favored as well. The core of Dragon heartstring was the most common working, powdered mandrake root, the rarest (and is no longer used, it was discontinued in 1697 due to the mandrake population severely decreasing). Wands from this age are particularly unstable due to the poor craftsmanship and understanding of the magical medium.

Finally, on April 25th, 1782, wand-lore had a breakthrough, the modern  wand was invented. It could do all spells whereas before you had to get a certain type of wand to do certain spells, such as a special wand for charms and another for transfiguration, and way back when, since they were very difficult to make, it was extremely expensive.
