Brooms And Now Three Generations
Chapter 9
I was running down the hall trying to find the entrance to the to the quidditch fields when I remembered the map in my pocket. I quickly unfolded the map and found that the entrance was two halls over from where I was. I ran to the end of the hall and two halls over. I found the entrance and snuck over to an empty spot in the broom practise line between Eva and Sally Malfoy. I didn't like to be near any of the Malfoys because they work for Voldemort, and I don't like Voldemort. Professor Chang told us to say, ''UP!", to our brooms. I said, "UP!"' and my broom immediately flew up into my hand. I watched the rest of the first years yelling, "UP!", and their brooms rolling around on the ground. After everyone got their broom in their hand, Professor Chang told us not to mount our brooms yet because she needed to get the Gryffindor professor. The class waited until Professor Chang was gone, then they started chatting.
I just stood still looking around until I realized that Leo was mounting his broom and pushing off. I knew that no one here had ever rode a broom before, but I also knew that my grandpa and my dad both used to be quidditch champions. I saw Leo's broom jerk downwards and I knew that I had to save him. I mounted my broom and pushed off. I just hovered in mid-air for a second enjoying the feeling, then I realized that Leo had gotten even higher up in the air. I tilted back on my broom and flew upward toward Leo. Leo saw me and then looked down at his broom. By then every first year was watching with suspense. I could tell he was both afraid and embarrassed and nervous. I flew another few feet towards him, but stopped when his broom fell a downwards again. I gave him a motion that said, "Focus on me, don't move, and don't look down." He nodded at me which ment I would be able to safely grab him and get him back to solid ground. I took advantage of the moment and flew straight toward him as fast as I could. I was about three feet away from him when his broom fell around nine feet downwards. With a sigh, I tried again. I lowered my broom downwards and flew two feet towards him. I told him to slowly reach out and grab my hand. He did as I asked and when we had a good grip on each other's hand I swung him over to my broom. I lowered us safely down to the ground. Everyone let out a sigh of relief then cheered and gave hugs all around. Leo and I were happy until Professor Chang grabbed both of our wrists and pulled us inside the school. Leo asked her what she saw and she said, "Oh, I saw it all."
We went through the hallways to Professor Katterson's office. When we got there Professor Chang explained how both Leo and I flew when we weren't supposed to. Professor Katterson was angry until Professor Chang said that I was good at flying. In the end, we lost 20 house points each and I am able to try out for the Gryfindor quidditch team. I might be a third generation quidditch player.
